I'm a grandma again!!!! I went down to lock up the birds this evening and promptly got hissed at by my black indian runner...looked in the duck house and I have 2 babies so far and at least 2 more pipped!!! So in the morning I should have lots more baby ducks!!! :weee :ya :celebrate

Can you tell I'm a little excited???

Oh, and we passed inspection! BUT, we can't move in until we get our water tested.... :he That will take 3 more days if everything goes well, I'm doing laundry right now so I can go over and paint the bathrooms tomorrow. Fun stuff.

The kids had a great time at water day today, they turned on the sprinklers one row at a time down all 3 soccer fields at the park and let the kids run wild....they also had some baby pools and a few slip n slides and water balloons. Each child got to pick out a free book to keep that someone had donated and they each got a free water bottle. We helped support the jaycees and bought hot dogs and icee pops.

All in all we had a fun day, Chad has to be at work at 4:30am, that means he has to get up at 3 so he is in the bed. I'm gonna try to get the laundry finished and collapse.

Hey Lori...water day sounds like a lot of fun for the kids. Shoot, If you have had the heat like we have, I might have been tempted to join in with the kids! :)

Congrats on the new ducklings. New life on the farm is always so thrilling..no matter the size...I am always in awe!

Well, I did go in the baby pools a bit :D It was HOT out there!

Well, I got the laundry done, i have one load of towels finishing up right now.

I got the new babies straight this morning, put some food and water in the duck house so they could eat a bit....I could see 4 in there this morning but she may have more. She won't let me get too close without pecking and flogging the crap out of me with her wings.

Hopefully more will hatch out today!

Chad is getting off early from work today and I think we'll get started moving some stuff over tonight after he takes the water sample to the testing lab.

The kids are all packed for their trip to granny's house so I'm planning on moving all their clothes over tonight. We'll get their furniture moved tomorrow. At least we got some rain yesterday and it has cooled things off a bit, it's really cloudy today so its a good day to get some stuff done. We needed the rain badly, everything is sooooo dry around here.

Why is it when a runner, who isn't supposed to go broody actually does...she is the MEANEST broody on the planet?? :gig

Chrissy was EVIL with her clutch...but she sure did a good job :D

Oh she's bad enough but I have a feeling my chocolate broody runner is going to be worse. When she comes off the nest in the morning and evening to get water and eat she chases my lab around the pen all puffed up and jumping at her and she's only 1 1/2 weeks into her nesting. When she hatches out those 10 eggs watch out! :p

:yuckyuck

Glad I made you laugh!!! :D

Broody black runner currently has 6 blacks and 1 chocolate that I could see without getting too close. That brings me up to 20 ducklings so far.....she has 7 or 8 more due to hatch and my chocolate has 10 due to hatch in like, 2-2 1/2 weeks. We'll see how that goes cause we are moving the majority of our furniture tomorrow and we'll move the animals this weekend, I guess. I'll probably move brahma mama over in the tractor with her chicks but I guess I'll have one of the neighbors watch the ducks till we can get them moved over.

Hubby brought home packing boxes and went on a frenzy this evening. I'm packing the kitchen up after breakfast tomorrow. Hopefully everything will go smoothly, the kids are leaving tomorrow afternoon to go to granny and papa's house for a few days so that will make things easier.

Wednesday

Moving day--part 1

Hubby left me the trailer but took the truck :barnie I called my bf and she is coming over to help me pack up the kitchen and load the trailer. She has to get some lumber for hubby to finish their pole shed tonight so she's gonna be down my way anyway.

Hubby got home last night and packed everything in a whirlwind...then we took apart the kids beds and they slept on their mattresses on the floor last night. Today we're gonna see about moving as much furniture as possible and then try to get the fencing up for the birds so we can move them over too. I don't like leaving my neighbor to look after the babies....last time we let him watch the birds when we had a broody with babies we found the babies dead and he hadn't even noticed.

Still have to finish the fireplace surround and paint the bathrooms but we can do that after we move in. We also have to switch out the washer and dryer and move my freezer.....that's gonna be a bear. We have 2 friends with trailers coming to help tonight but hopefully we can get the first load done before they get here.

I'm excited but tired....I can't wait until this is done and I can rest. I have been exhausted. The kids are outside playing and it is a little cooler today with a wonderful breeze going so that will make things easier.

Posted 2 ads for my runner ducklings and if I can't sell them before the 10th I will be taking them to the next chicken swap.

If all the eggs hatch that are down there I'll have 34 babies. :th What have I gotten myself into???

Okay.....updates. I got an email from one lady that wants to buy ALL my runner ducklings but we are haggling over price right now.

We have spent the last 2 nights in our new house and we are EXHAUSTED. We got the playground loaded up last night and still have one more truckload of little stuff at the house to move today and I also have to clean out the fridge.

We have wonderful friends that have been a godsend during the last 2-3 days and have gotten us moved very quickly. Today we are hooking up the dishnetwork, the guy is here now. We also have to measure for the fencing for the birds and buy the rolls of fence for that and the garden which I have relocated to the space where we were going to put the barn so that I will be closer to the compost area. The future barn structures will me moved up. We have the opportunity to get two beautiful grass fed angus bull calves from chad's uncle for little of nothing and once we can get the fence finished we'll probably move them over. The goats are on hold for now....still trying to convince hubby that they are worth it.

We have decided to get a buddy of ours to do an estimate for a 14x24 shed/workshop/garage and a 2 car carport next to it because we need storage more than a barn right now.

Still haven't finished the fireplace surround or painted the bathrooms yet but may tackle that today sometime. We treated ourselves to new feather pillows yesterday. We haven't had new pillows in about 10 years and ours are really pretty gross. We took the old pillows and used them in the shams for everyone's beds and invested $50 in new ones to sleep on.

Chad wants to build bookcases on either side of the fireplace and we have to find a desk and chair to put in the living room. Still haven't been able to find any barstools that we like for the kitchen and I refuse to pay $250 for a chair.

Hubby and I went out to lunch yesterday at Friendly's with some of my birthday money and had a good time but were crazy tired.

I can't wait to show you guys before and after pics of this house. Granny came by and was amazed and she really liked the kitchen and said she wished she had thought to paint the cabinets when she was living there cause it just made it look so much brighter and cleaner. :D

We still have a lot of cleaning to do at the old house but I think one more trailer load will do it. I thought I would be sadder but I think I'm okay. I am so tired I haven't had a chance to sit down and think about how much I'll miss the old house. The good thing about this is that with all the repairs and such that we have made it has given the kids time to adjust to the idea of moving and it hasn't been such a shock to them. Letting them help pick out little things for their new rooms has been good too. They have both gotten new shag rugs, a new lamp, and a new ceiling fan.

They also both got to help put together the fans and help paint and do some construction stuff so that has been good. My 5 yr old is really quite good with a hammer and nails. We gave him a scrap piece of lumber and a hammer and about 20 nails and he got them all in by himself. Kept him busy for about an hour.

All in all, I would do it again. It's been good. Like I said, once everything gets moved and finished I'll post before and after pics, ya'll won't believe it!!!
