I really like the black australorps....they are so friendly and inquisitive, walk right up to you and start checking you out. I really hope they are pullets. I would love to keep one roo but hubby is adamant about no roosters. :( If I can't have fertile eggs then what's the use?

I need to find some really good chocolate runner stock. I want some new blood. I am thinking of getting rid of my black pair and getting a new pair of chocolates. Anyone know where I can get some good high postured chocolate runners? Holderreads doesn't sell chocolates.....bummer.

Saturday

Well.....today was a good day so far! I took the last 6 runner babies, 2 older hens that are refusing to lay in the nesting boxes anymore, and the only rabbit we could catch (Thumper) to the chicken swap this morning. I sold out by 12:30!!! Made $62 *pats self on the back*

That paid for all the feed and the new chicks I just bought and I still have $17 leftover! My chicken run is a lot cleaner now too! I miss the babies though, I enjoyed seeing them running around. :/

Got home and argued with my husband, now he's at the old house cleaning cause he doesn't like the way I clean apparantly :rant

The kids have collapsed on the couch for a nap together, I just finished making chili and some sweet tea and I just got 2 loads of sheets, towels and jeans on the line. I'll make some cornbread to go with the chili a little later.

I was hoping to take the kids back to the river this evening but they wanted Daddy to go too. We'll see. maybe tomorrow after church we can kick back and relax.

They are both really excited that they can go under water on their own now. Maddie can even swim a few strokes under water, she even opens her eyes! Tyler likes to "dive" and prefers to keep his head above water. I'm just glad they like to swim and aren't afraid of the water.

Well, gonna catch up on some stuff an see if I can sell some more stuff on CL.

We usually have one here (in Powhatan) once a month in the TSC parking lot over in the grassy area on the edge. The other saturdays during the summer are in other neighboring counties. We have a couple of local chicken organizations that have their own forums/blogs and they have organized it with all the local TSCs/Southern States.

You never know what you'll see....I've seen everything from quail to mini horses and everything in between. People sell puppies and kittens, pigs, goats, sheep, heck I've even seen a llama! Today there were tons of rabbits....I don't know how I sold mine cause no one elses were selling. Thumper looks like a common old yard rabbit. Sold her to a lady with 7 kids....3 of them held her before she said yes. That rabbit has never let me hold her like that....it was just meant to be.

I taught 2 people how to sex ducks while I was there and rescued a husband from having to run electricity to his wife's coop for the winter by explaining the deep litter method to him. :p

We even had some folks selling produce this time! I would love to start some seedlings and sell them there in the spring/summer. It can be hit or miss though, this one was really good for me!

Wow! That's cool! I would enjoy having something like that here. The closest thing to that that i know of is the road i call "Dog Run." It's the road next to the Wal-mart in a nearby city, and there are usually about 5 or 6 pick-up trucks with puppies in the back, all lined up in the parking lot next to the road to Wal-mart. :D But that's not really the same thing. :gig

Yeah, I have about a thousand old windows I want to turn into cold frames or a shed/greenhouse thing. SKR8PN's been helping me with some ideas on the construction threads.

Today we had a really good day! Got up and went to church and we have a new pastor, finally. He is really funny and entertaining and does well at keeping everyone's interest and attention. He had a wonderful message today and we really had a good time.

Had a lunch downstairs after service and that was fun, saw one of the little girls (not so little anymore) that was at our wedding.....she's driving :th

Hard to believe that I will have been married 9 years in Sept. Crazy.

Anyway, afterwards we went to visit Chad's nanny and then went to Target to get the external cd/dvd drive for the computer and ended up getting the kids each a soccer ball and a small collapsible goal. We figured that would be better than paying all that money for playing soccer this year with membership fees, uniforms, shoes, padding, etc. Chad used to play soccer so he's gonna work with the kids to get them to understand all the rules and learn some basics so that if they want to play next year it won't be so hard.

Then grabbed some dinner at Noodles & Co. and went to give cousin L one of Tyler's old pedal tractors that he has outgrown. He loved it and they all got to play with the new soccer balls while we visited with everybody. The kids are all bathed and in bed and I'm going soon. Thursday is tie dye day at the library so I have to go find a white shirt for both kids....I know Tyler has one in his closet but I'm not so sure about Maddie. :/

May have to hit the Salvation Army Wednesday.....1/2 price clothing day :D

Well, what's today, Wednesday.

Rain, rain, and more rain. I managed to get 3 loads of laundry done yesterday but it rained on one and they are still on the line cause it is still raining.

It is supposed to rain every day this week. I got 2 phone calls about ducks yesterday....it figures, I want to sell them and can't but when I finally sell out of them everybody wants them.

Mowed the grass and hubby weed eated the fence. I'm thinking about what birds I want to order and how many. I did an order from Welp to see how much it would be and it was $200. AHHH

I am thinking of getting some silkies or maybe some polish or both and building 2 ark style tractors for them and breeding them to sell the babies. Maybe 3 hens and 1 roo of each. I also need to get some ducks to introduce some fresh blood into my flock. I'm thinking of getting rid of my black drake and getting 2 more chocolate hens. That would leave me with 3 chocolate hens 1 black hen and 1 chocolate drake. Problem is that I need to order them now so they will be ready to lay in the spring/summer. That's gonna be a problem with hubby.

I also need to get with everyone and see how many meaties I need to order. We did 30 last year for us and I'm still eating off of them but we had people coming out of the woodworks wanting finished birds last year when they found out we had them. I was thinking of building 2 tractors and getting 100 from either Meyers or Welp. We told everyone $10 per chicken finished and no one had problems paying that. Gotta build the tractors first.

Need to get the other lean to done on the shed, both are built but one still needs shingles. Our builder friend is turning out to be a real piece of work. We told him that if he isn't finished tomorrow not to bother coming back that we would finish it ourselves. He worked 2 hours last week.....total. Just found out that he is on cocaine and I don't want him around my children. :somad He is hitting his mama up for money and we were trying to keep him off her back by offering him some work, and he does do good work. That's what you get for trying to help an addict.

Wow, someone needs to change me from "member" to "buried in laundry".

Seems like every time I post on here I'm doing laundry.

Yesterday our local library had a tie dye day for the kids and hubby came with us! He was bummed that he didn't bring a t-shirt for himself. We had a lot of fun. Next week the aquarium from Va Beach is coming to do a presentation and bring some fun stuff for the kids to see.

Going to go bring hubby lunch at work today. I have no clue what I'm gonna bring him.

Well, it looks like Quack has finally gotten what she wanted, the little slut, I caught her and my black male indian runner "doing the deed" in the freshly cleaned kiddie pool this morning. EEEEWWWWW.

Well, happy Friday everyone....looks like we are finally going to get a sunshiney day here after a week of rain. :D

Today we got all the bed linens changed after a surprise visit from Granny and Papa AND MIL....all in one day! Our after church plans quickly changed....went out to lunch with MIL, her treat and then took my grandparents out for dinner.....tonight we had the leftovers.

I took a nice long bath with epsom salts tonight after a very trying day with my children. 3 hours to get them to clean their rooms so I could vacuum for the first time in a month. I threatened to get out the belt if it got that way again. I partly blame myself for not staying on top of things and getting them to pick everything up.

My son's room was the worst....what is it with boys? He just kept saying "but mommy I can walk in here" that and "but moooooommmmmmyyyy, I LIKE it messy"

Oh, my goat breeder emailed me today and she still has 3 does for sale that should be ready to breed late in the fall. I emailed her back and said that I would love 2 of them but we would just have to see. :fl

Tomorrow we have a really good presentation at the library to go to, one of the aquariums in VA is bringing an exhibit for the children's summer program. I don't know how they are doing it but we are all excited to go.

Granny's surgery has been postponed until Sept 1. We'll see how things go.
