Oh my gosh, it doesn't even compare. Homemade crust from scratch, no I don't know her recipe but I'm gonna have to ask. You boil the dried apples (you can use any fruit) until they are soft and then puree them in the blender until they look like applesauce and add your spices. Granny makes up the dough and rolls it out into circles, spoons filling onto one side and then folds it in half and presses the edges together and then puts a big dollap of crisco in a cast iron skillet and fries it on both sides until it's flaky and crisp and YUMMY!

Looks like my computer has turned against me too. I have over 400 pictures of VBS that I need to burn onto a disc and it keeps giving me a message that I don't have a disc burner. The H*!! I don't. I called the local computer place that serviced and cleaned out my computer a couple months ago and told him to help me fix it over the phone. He's calling his supervisor and is supposed to call me back. :rant

I am so frustrated right now.

Well CRAP.

I just got off the phone with the computer geek and he says my cd-rom drive is fried. The only way to fix it is to replace the mother board and even that isn't a guarantee that it will work. :he

So my other option is to go buy an external e drive for the cds.

GRRRRRRRRR......*expletive, expletive, expletive*

If you can download the info onto a thumb drive you could take it to Walmart or a Walgreens. They have machines that will make your CD.

Still not a repair job, but better than nothing.

Well, yesterday we were supposed to go home after church but one of the little girls invited Tyler and Maddie over to play in the pool at her neighborhood. So, I'm still at granny's and hubby is missing us and we are missing him something terrible. We're gonna leave today after lunch, I think. Both kids are stuffy from all the pool water yesterday and I am going to stop and get them some medicine to knock them out. I also have to look for that dang external cd/dvd drive cause I'm sure it will be cheaper than replacing the mother board.

I haven't had my coffee yet and I'm still blurry eyed...I also slept in the bed with the kids last night so I didn't really sleep.

Happy monday everyone!

Our laptop crashed recently....$250 later we were told that the virus came from 'a social networking site' likely facebook. Sucks.

We also had an external hard drive crash last winter, so be careful with those too.

Fried pies huh? I am going to have to avoid that recipe!

Okay....I got it out of her!

Make the dough at night so it can sit in the refrigerator overnight.

Dough:

about 3 cups of self-rising flour sifted
1 stick of butter
1-2 cups buttermilk
solid crisco
oil

Filling:
any kind of fruit cooked down until thick and pureed. She started with dried apples this time and boiled them in water until they got soft and then pureed them in the blender and then put them back in the pan to cook down until they thickened with any desired spices.

Okay, here goes....

for the dough cut one stick of butter into the sifted flour until it forms "peas". Start with one cup of buttermilk and work it in until it forms a soft dough, add more milk if needed and you'll probably need 1 1/2-2 cups to get it right.
roll the dough in a bowl that has been coated with oil and then put the dough into the fridge to chill overnight.

In the morning, prepare your filling. Roll the dough out and cut into circles with a 7 inch pot lid. Place the filling on one side and brush the edge with water, fold over like a taco and seal the edges. Melt a chunk of solid crisco in a small cast iron skillet and fry one at a time until the pie is crisp and brown, drain on a paper towel.

This recipe will make around 9 fried pies. Can you tell she's country??? :D

Is anyone else tired of temper tantrums? My 5 yr old has pulled every game out of his bin in his room and you cannot even walk in there. I have told him that he will do nothing else until he picks up all the games and puts them back in the bin. He is currently hiding under the end table to avoid ANOTHER spanking for talking back and being disrespectful.

I hate this about the kids going to granny's or grandma's house. They give in to the kids for everything and I end up paying for it. I have to reprogram them when we get home.

I really hope I don't have this issue when we start really getting back into the homeschooling stuff.

Just remember the three magical words .... NATURAL - LOGICAL - CONSEQUENCES!

Perhaps you all should do something very fun this afternoon. "Oh dear .. I guess you can't do ____ with us. Maybe you can when your job is done."

And if it doesn't get done then you keep missing things on the normal schedule until it does. Me being happy and going along enjoying my life without them bothered my kids worse than the battles.

Hang tough you only have about 30 ( :/ ) more years of this! :D
