Hope he's ready to finish the fence around the pasture this week....anyway.....I'm done with the painting.....:weee

I decided that I would just do the second coat around the edges and fill in with the brush as needed cause I got a little heavy handed with the roller on the first coat. :hide

Anyway, it's done, fixtures are back up and the curtains are back up. I'll take pics tomorrow when the light is better and let you guys see the before and after. Doesn't look like the same house.

Now, if I could only finish the fireplace.....I don't have a miter box. :/

We still have to put all the trim on the surround and paint it....oh goody, more painting. Still need to stain the decks but I have a feeling hubby is going to pressure wash them again.

My right arm is killing me. Maybe this will build up the muscles in preparation for milking the goats. I put a bug in the breeders ear that I would love to buy the 2 does she had left if they were already bred.... :hide :fl :fl :fl

It would not surprise me if he was serious about the calf cause we had talked about getting a holstein to slaughter for meat but I don't know if it has been castrated....I think he said it was born Aug 24.....am I gonna have to bottle feed this thing?

Well, I finished touching up everything this morning in the bathrooms and posted pics in my remodeling post and cleaned the house. Finished the jerky this morning and did 3 loads of laundry. Now I am relaxing my arms and shoulders with a pot of coffee and watching a very interesting program on the History Channel.

This is a program on who really discovered America. I have always had issues with the Columbus theory because there were people here already when columbus landed. This program has anthropological evidence to suggest that people from Europe, Japan, and other peoples landed here way before Columbus. As early as 22,000 years ago. There is evidence from Virginia that people were here hunting Mammoths. They have found spear heads with Mammoth bones distinct to a tribe of people from Europe here in Va. There is also DNA evidence that there is a tribe of people from Japan came to Ecuador 3000 years ago. Vikings were even here before Columbus.

I don't like the fact that we celebrate Columbus day as a national holiday. Columbus did some awful things to indiginous peoples and I don't think it is right, from a human rights standpoint, to celebrate a man that didn't even "discover" this country. There is something wrong about teaching our children that we should honor someone that didn't really contribute a lot to our society.

Any thoughts?

i've been bothered by columbus day since i was little. i found out that not a single story they told us about it was true.

even my nieces said they're glad to have a day off school but they'd rather it was named right and taught right. "happy slaughter of the indigenous day" or something.

That's funny....I have corrected my husband several times when I catch him teaching my children the columbus rhyme....he didn't even hit America until 1493....geez.

Yup, I never celebrate this day. I'm not going to celebrate someone who raped, killed, and tortured people. I don't care if he was white, purple, or blue, not celebrating him or the day.
The indigenous people were far better off without him hanging around. The whole 'Who discovered America' thing? There were already human beings here that were making GOOD use of the land.
It should be taken off the calendars period.

Not a lot going on today....Tyler woke us up at 2am with a monster nose bleed. He is a chronic nose bleeder.....kills me. So today I get to wash MORE LAUNDRY. All the bed linens and quilt had to be washed and all the towels he grabbed on his own before he came and got us up. Poor thing....did you know that Greased Lightning will get dried blood out of everything!?!

Went to get my prescription, groceries, hubby is at TSC looking at barstools and food plot stuff for the deer. Then we are off to the antique shop to look at some primitive style furniture. Hopefully we come home with something we can use as a bookcase. All of the kid's school stuff is in boxes still from the move and I am overflowing with books for them too. I really need to get everything organized but we just don't have anywhere to put it all yet. :fl I hope I find something good!

Well, we got a beautiful cabinet from the antique store for $225. It is really pretty and goes perfectly and has a door so that I can shut up all the kids supplies. Hubby came in put some raffia in a great big pile and put 6 pie pumpkins on top of it with a small lamp we had and it looks so good! I didn't know he could be so "artsy-fartsy"! He came home from TSC with 3 John Deere barstools and they were only $39 each so that wasn't too bad. Now the kids can eat at the island for breakfast and it is much easier and neater for us.

Got the food plot done last night, hubby went and got a mix of rye and winter wheat to over plant the field and mix in with some of the clover mix.

We are gonna go eat lunch with hubby and then go to petsmart for crickets. We went fishing yesterday with grasshoppers we caught out in the field and caught 4 nice largemouth bass and several bluegills. Had some friends over for dinner....today we're just taking it easy until church tonight.

Never celebrated Columbus day. The palo-indians were here first. Then the primitive europeans and Vikings (which I am proud to say I am a direct descentant of (my madien name was Erickson)). Coumbus day is just another excuse by the white man to take credit for everything.

I'm jelous of you. I can't remember the last time I had fresh fish. Mabey I need to look up some fishing spots aroung here?

Congrats on the cabinet. I can totally relate to everything needing a place. I love being able to close the doors and not have to look at it. Post a picture when you can!!

Sorry about the wash, do you know why he gets the nose bleeds??
