It is amazing what you can do with 2.5 acres. You can do just about anything you can do with 5 or 10 just on a smaller scale.

2.5 acres is one acre more than I have and if our property was laid out better I could easily keep 6 goats. I say go for it! Don't let them stop your dreams :hugs Put that front yard to use - no sense having an area you just have to mow :p

big land is really only needed when you have LOTS of animals to upkeep....other than that, big land is truly not needed.

2.5 acres arranged correctly will easily handle feeding the family and give you room to run around.

Truly Lori, don't waste one more tear over something you can not control....who owns that land isn't controllable at this point, so just enjoy what you have--or move and find new.

sorry for the family troubles

2.5 acres is 1.5 more than we have!! If our property were laid out a bit better, we'd have more animals and fewer flower beds!! :gig
Our garden is 50x50 plus we have 9 raised beds that average 4x8 ft each. I won't mention the greenhouse! :D

:hugs :hugs :hugs Sorry hun. I can't say I understand or could tell you how to make it all better, but I can say I'm sorry for you and I hope it all works out in the end. That's one of the crazy things about Karma, it will work out like it's supposed to. :fl

2.5 free and clear acres .... 22.5 TIMES the amount of space that I have!!!

Yeah, you'll do fine.

What your family did will eventually turn around and bite them in the butt. Just be patient. Make your point known and then let it go and be at peace where you are.

Your new place is still wonderful after all! :D

I SO know what you are going through. I am so sorry...BUT, dont let THEM get you down. 2.5 acres is plenty! Be determined to make it work, make your space happy and loveing, and screw them all! After all.. its yours, free and clear, and they need to get over themselves. Your place is beautifull!! There is peace and love inside them walls....thats all you really need. A little rearrangeing here and there, and you will have a beautifull working farm! Then, once the fruits of your labors are ripening...just stand on the property line, faceing them, and take a bit bite, and smile!

I have almost 2 acres (1.67 acres) and I have 2 goats now but I think my pen could easily hold 3 more. We have a 50'x50' pen for the chickens! We have a pretty big garden...I think it is at least 40'x60'. I am planning on planting flowers in the front side yard to sell as cut flowers next summer...think 75'x75' area for that. We still have a big front yard and a size backyard that the kids play in. If I had 3/4 of an acre more and owned it free and clear I would have the space and money for a milk cow!! And still be able to keep my goats! I also have a small orchard started as well and a two big clothes lines!

Family can be really screwed up some times. :barnie :hugs Wish he had followed through with his old idea.
Maybe you could get an order of guineas and build a coop for them at the edge of your property. The edge closest to them, that is. They are great birds for a homestead- but a wee bit noisy . . . just a bit. evil laugh
