Well today is better but the tv is beeping winter storm advisorys and warnings every 10 minutes. I am killing chickens today dammit!!!
It is supposed to start snowing/sleeting/freezing rain late tonight and continue into Friday morning.
Okay....I still have 22 chickens to go...I hope we can get half of them done tonight and finish the rest this weekend. This is getting ridiculous.
We didn't get snow last year until 2 days before xmas. At least I was able to move the chicken tractor onto new frozen green spikey things that somewhat resemble grass.
I wanted to skin the birds outside and then bring them in the kitchen to finish cutting them up but hubby won't do it. I would have started them before now but he has the cooler in the backseat of the car
At least the wind isn't blowing 9000 mph today. Gotta be an upside, right? Gotta keep focused on the upside, right?
I'm so glad I only have 2 to do. I think next year, I'm going to make sure if I have to process any birds in the fall, it will be b4 Thanksgiving! (That is, provided I have a broody hen at the right time so I don't have to buy any birds, and since I don't have an incubator.)
Today, it is snowing like crazy....that's why we killed all 22 remaining meaties.
We skinned and cut them all into pieces. They are "chilling" on the back porch in a cooler until we can package them either tonight or tomorrow. I may go hunting this evening. Crazy right? Everyone else is bundled up and hunkered down and I'm gonna go sit in a snowstorm
I'd better not miss again this time, and that's all I have to say about that.
Oh, and we got the tree and house lights put up after a dinner of mashed sweet potatoes, peas, and a deer tenderloin with a thyme mushroom balsamic vinegar sauce...cooked to medium-medium rare in the middle...it was perfect. Then my husband put his portion in the MICROWAVE
