MIL got here this morning about 10am, got her presents unloaded and helped watch the kids while I dived into my turkey.

This is my first whole turkey and I'm crossing my fingers it will taste good....I stuffed it with whole lemons, onion chunks, and rosemary, then rubbed a whole stick of butter on it and sprinkled with salt and pepper and stuffed some sprigs of rosemary and a few onion slices under the skin on the breasts. I've been basting it with homemade chicken broth, another stick of melted butter and some fresh organic lemon juice. It smells good. :D

Gonna do our big dinner tonight cause we are traveling a lot tomorrow and saturday so MIL and her brother and wife and youngest DD are coming for dinner with us.

Making some braised kale and leeks with some lemon juice, chicken broth and olive oil. Steamed green beans, mashed sweet potatoes, MIL's mac and cheese, some sweet tea and maybe some homemade wine later. I made GF brownies last night and some whole wheat gingersnaps for the kids to use up the last of my wheat flour.

Merry Christmas ya'll!!!

If I don't get to get on for the next few days ya'll be sure and have a good one! :love

Merry Christmas to you and yours Lori! That turkey sounds delish! If I left now, I bet I could be there by the time it's ready to come out of the oven! So if you see a strange subaru coming up the drive, don't set the dogs on me :)

Well....now that the drama is over things can get back to normal. I'll spare ya'll the details but Christmas was stressful as usual.

Kids got way too much, Maddie could start her own dang boutique with all the clothes she got. I got 3 sweaters....2 of which will go back to the store, people will just not listen when I say "if you want me to have clothes then give me money so I can go try stuff on"

I got gift cards to Barnes and Nobles, TSC, Michaels (craft store), and Target. Hubby snuck out to TSC and got me a really nice lined Carhart jacket :love I got some cash too which will pay for my bees in april.

My son got a microscope!!! A really good one too! I can do my own fecals!!! So excited about that one!

My daughter got like 12 barbie dolls....nine of them are still in the boxes in the top of her closet....she hasn't even missed them.

We did a non electric xmas again. No toys or anything involving electricity for the kids.....puzzles, art supplies, dominoes, squinkies for Maddie and littlest pet shop and zoobles for tyler. He also got 3 nerf guns....a pistol, double barrel shotgun, and crossbow. He's gonna be set come hunting season next year....he's had lots of practice with his toy guns the last 2 days. Papa gave us a .22 that we will use to squirrel hunt with the kids.

My granny got us 2 cases of paper towels...:th I only use paper towels during hunting season when we process meat to absorb excess moisture prior to vacuum sealing. The rest of the year I use bar towels and homemade napkins.

My MIL left this morning after we had to go get her youngest son from the middle son's apartment. He got wind that middle son was getting ready to skip town (he has an impending court date and will probably do jail time for this one). He has no job and couldn't take over the rent if he had to and has no license (he lost it....don't get me started) so hubby went and got him yesterday and brought him to our house and he went home with MIL. :he He turned 22 yesterday. I married the good son. MIL will not hesitate to call him that either. She calls them "the good son", "the bad son" and the "questionable son".

My turkey turned out wonderfully....thank you Food Network.

So how was everybody's holiday?

hubby is excited about it too! My goats are coming soon so I am excited to be able to do fecals and go as natural with them as possible.

The wind is gusting at like 7000 mph right now  With all the powdery snow we got it looks like a sand storm all around my house....I was going hunting this afternoon but I may wait till tomorrow if this wind keeps up. I don't mind sitting in the tree stand but when you have to process a deer out in the open this wind is brutal. When our house is sold and it's done we are going to refinance the house loan and take out enough to build a small garage with a concrete floor with a drain in it so we can do all our processing INSIDE. This is freakin ridiculous.
