First of all my "poor children" were neglected by not going to pre-school. They were not socialized at all ... only going to church and family type activities. Then they went to private Christian school with only 10 in each class.

They also all did GREAT when they finally did go to public school as middle schoolers AND they all tested as "gifted". My worst critique for keeping them home or private schooling them was my Aunt. Now SHE is homeschooling her grandkids!!

As a teacher you need to consider ALL of the time we spend just on crowd control. Standing in lines waiting ... for bathroom, lunch, to check out a book. Add to that the time we spend repeating the lesson, and catching up students that have missed or are behind. Plus behavior control.

REAL learning in the classroom only takes up a small percentage of each day. That is why home school is so efficient.

Also, don't buy into the whole if kids are in school mom should be at work crap. A stay at home mom can make things easier and better for the whole family.

socks+laminate floor+coffee table+ 3 yr old= heart attack for mom

My daughter did a nose dive into the coffee table last night and sliced her forehead open while "skating" in the living room. I was helping Tyler on the computer when it happened so I didn't see the whole thing transpire but I heard what sounded like someone raising the yellow pages over his head and slamming it on the edge of the coffee table. She was sitting stunned on the floor and then started screaming. She wanted to put a bandaid on it so "daddy won't see it" cause she knows daddy was a volunteer paramedic and would examine her.

She's fine....lumpy but fine.

On a lighter note, I just got an email from the goat breeder. The vet was there yesterday doing ultrasounds on all her "ladies in waiting" and Janoah and Caris, our two girls, are definitely preggers and due in April!!! :weee :ya :weee :ya: weee :ya

We woke up to a snow storm and my chickens are definitely on strike. I had 4 that wouldn't even come out of the coop this morning...one that went directly into the duck house to lay an egg alone and the other 4 were brave enough to venture out for some layena and cracked corn. The ducks are loving it, of course. :p

Hubby's hunting group have killed 12 geese so far this morning and are probably only gonna hunt half day so I'm going to TJ Maxx to buy a couple of new skillets since mine are coming apart. I have a $52 credit after I took back the sweaters Mama got me for xmas. Doesn't she get it by now not to buy me clothes??? Sheesh.

When we were growing up, Mom only allowed us to "skate" in our leotards in the long hallway. Nothing to run into that would have the opportunity to dangerously hurt us... but if we fell hard against a bedroom or the bathroom door we did get black and blue pretty good. Ahhhh.... good memories there.

Hope your dd is doing well....

edited for typo!

Ouch! Sometimes I think it's amazing some of us make it thru childhood. I can remember sliding down our stairs on cardboard. Don't know how we managed to do that w/out getting hurt.

My sis was always the one to slide into furniture, corners, etc. She split her head open so many times, that we still think she's daft cus of it!

Kids getting banged up is the worst! Nothing is harder for a mom than that silent moment between when you see your child hurt themselves and when the wail comes out......

My hubby's cousins used to terrorize the babysitter by sliding down the basement stars on a twin mattress.....

Today we are supposed to be getting snow but right now it looks like we may just get rain but DANG it is cold out there. Everyone is antsy, including me. I am on my 3rd load of laundry but cannot seem to make myself put anything away. I just want to curl up under a quilt and snuggle with the kids.

We went to the library yesterday and I got a garden planner book, a book on simple living, and when I came home my order from Barnes and Noble was here! So now I have Nourishing Traditions and The Gluten Free Gourmet cooks Comfort Foods. I have a lot of reading to do.

I also found my seed packets that I bought last year....man, I went crazy. I still want to get a few more varieties of tomatoes cause I want to can some diced tomatoes this year. That seems to be what I use the most and if I can them plain I can always put them in the food processor and turn them into sauce later, right?

My brother in Atlanta and my MIL in NC got hammered with this storm.....looks like we are going to miss most of it though. My chickens are hiding under the coop :p

Lori
slow down gal
you are overloaded and ya know it but ya keep on adding things to the plate. take some off the plate gal :p

slow down

yes I will say it again

now about school...your kids are fine, probably more normal than "ya think" lol it is you.....you need some down time. stop the "give all to them" cause Lori if you are not complete in yourself, you CAN NOT give your best to them....you know what I mean lol

School is a 2 way. For me, personally, Nicole would not be the smart, talented kid she is without her pre-school and her Kind classes now. But again that is not for all of course. So slow down, stop, think, relax, think about it again, and decide homeschool or real school. And like said before, the kids are young....so ya got a bit of time to chill and think.

I hear ya wanting to jam those "paid" classes into your education etc.

you are not sure where you should go with the kids. just slow down gal.....I will say it again, slow down....LOL LOL

been there, had all those thoughts and one thing being WAY older than you, I decided to slow down, take the time, figure out the path, and go from there lol

you know what I mean Lori. Just chill. Think. Relax. Cause none of your decisions will be life changining when made on a fast track. It is the thought out decisions that make the change. Not the fast ones...lol...the fast ones get ya into more trouble...at least for me lol
