Many reports of vandalism. Some independent guy who competes with the union division got shot in the arm!

Went to the pool yesterday after story time and crazy cake lady was supposed to meet us there but never showed up!!! I'm trying to get crazy outta my life as much as possible and it's starting with her.

I got the garden cleaned out, fertilizer added, and planted cucumbers, broccoli, cabbage, swiss chard, beets, pumpkins, and more lettuce and spinach. My carrots just look like they stopped and the potato plants died a while ago so nothing there. My sweet potatoes are still growing some and my lavendar took off all of a sudden and my mint seems to be recovering a bit. I may make a separate bed just for mint next spring.

Last night we hit the farmer's market and I have to say that I was disappointed. There were only 2 vendors with veggies, one lady with potted plants, one with artificial flower arrangements, two with baked goods, a gelatto booth, a local author signing her new book, and one meat vendor. They wanted $9.99/lb for grass fed ground chuck :ep I'll stick with my free deer meat thank you.

We left with nothing.

Frawg is in heat....Tonka has lost his everloving mind. She's on the porch and he's in the house and driving me nuts! He keeps walking around the house sniffing and licking himself and whining and I can just see the wheels turning in his mind "gotta get some poonanny, gotta get some poonanny"

On the other hand, I wish I could tell when my goats were in heat. I really want to breed Aliana and Bethoron next month. I'm thinking I may see if I can get a buck rag from someone. They always head butt each other and they are all really vocal so every day looks the same and I've seen no "goo". Killing me.

I'm hoping we get a little rain tonight, the garden could use it. I'm planning on doing the bee hives tomorrow too....they haven't gotten any sugar syrup in 2 weeks cause of the rain/heat and life in general. I need to do a full inspection tomorrow so I'm bracing myself for it. Hubby doesn't want to inspect everything but I do. They have looked pretty good from the outside but I want to get my hands in there. I'm also worried that they may run out of space. I may pay a visit to the feed store and see if they have a queen excluder and supers with frames and foundation. That's gonna be a fun bill.

I need to run to TSC today and get goat feed. My bag of alfalfa pellets is almost gone but it has lasted 3 months and so has the bag of sunflower seeds and part of those have been going to the birds too. I also need a bag of Blue Seal for Aliana. I need to back off her feed a bit, she's getting chunky. I have stopped feeding Bethoron and Tally in the evenings so they just get a handful of alfalfa pellets and Boss once a day.

I still have to redo all the goats paperwork :barnie I need to do that today. Maybe I'll go by the post office when I go out to TSC. I got my letter from the school board approving my homeschool paperwork so we are good to go on that. Today we are just gonna go with the flow and try to take it easy. Yesterday was exhausting...after the farmer's market and dinner at the chinese restaurant we all came home and took a nap. Maddie went to bed at 6 last night. Chad woke me up to go milk the goat. If he really loved me he would have let me sleep and HE would have milked her for me...:p

When my carrots do that they are usually too close together. It is the bane of my life keeping my carrots far enough apart. Also, did you actually dig some of the potatoes? If it is a hot summer (always) my potatoes will die back to the ground, but ofter they have produce potatoes already. It is worth a hope.

My potatoes this year WERE a wash. I made some potato sacks for me and sissy. Sissy has beautiful plants in hers. Mine nothing. Perhaps Sage "helping me" find those silly potatoes that I hid by digging them up THREE times at planting, a super hot summer, and one more "dog farming" trip towards the end there was just too much for them. Do you think that had anything to do with them failing? :th

I don't know what happened with the potatoes here but I'm thinking maybe the heat??? I'll dig them up soon and see if I got anything decent...I'm not holding my breath.

All my cantaloupes look like they are rotting on one side, I went out and turned them all and hopefully that will help. They are still green so I don't want to harvest them yet.

Chad just finished up the slide show for VBS and it looks great! Waaaaaaay less complicated than last years but waaaaaay longer, 13 minutes :hide It has over 150 pictures in it...they're gonna kill me!

We just got a brief hard shower so hopefully that will help all the seeds I just planted. Hubby has to go take our weedeater back to Home Depot so they can send it back to the manufacturer to fix it cause it is still under warranty and he is going to pick up a 100ft hose for me so I can get to the garden to water it. All our other hoses have holes in them

Yes! I can't believe how big they are!

We are waiting until September to start taking orders for meat birds and we'll see how many we need to do. I want to do at least 30 for us. I think I have like 10 packs of chicken left that has to last us until November when we process the new batch of meaties. We'll probably do the cornish x again but if we get more than 60 this year we may need to do another tractor and split them up. We could fit about 75 in the current one but that would be pushing it IMHO. We are almost out of deer meat too... I'm freezing goat milk like crazy too for when the goats aren't in milk.

I need to get all my soapmaking stuff ordered too. I need the lye, EOs, and fats. Gonna do olive oil and maybe some jojoba or shea butter. I have to get out my books again to see what I need to order. I have one that has lots of recipes in it. I also need to get some more bee stuff. I need two more supers and frames with foundation for both and two queen excluders.

I am thinking that once we get the money from Chad's client that owes us for the mallards I'll go get that. I'm hoping he throws in something extra for my time and effort. He said that he hasn't seen the ducks in a while but he has lots of little hidey holes and lots of different types of food sources on his property so I imagine they are fine. With that many choices on the property they could be spread out a bit too. He owes us $60 for feed and I'm hoping hubby can convince him to give me something extra for my time raising the birds.

Still didn't get the goat paperwork done today....dang it. Tomorrow the kids want to take the babysitter (Tyler has a crush on her *blush*) to the pool for the day so after we do the bees we'll be off to the YMCA. Sunday Chad has to meet up with the Mafia partners and check on their impoundments and a couple of corn fields. He got a call from one of their landowners that said his fields were covered up with geese so he's excited!
