do your people want beef or goat to eat when the animal is older

are you doing it for milk only and sell the goat when it hits like 6 years old and is no good anymore for big milk production

cows are yummy
goats are yummy

are ya going to just milk it or eat it.

goats are a pain...houdini type
1 cow is easier in my opinion

tons of reasons

get what fits your situation

I can cook an old cow in a crock pot so easy and it tastes great vs. goat meat (that no one might ever want to eat) but I would and have LOL

SS is using the WHOLE animal from beginning to end usually. Think of it like that and might make deciding easier.....of course if allergic to cow milk, get a goat or camel etc You can milk almost anything LOL

I checked on the nest under the porch this morning and something eat all the eggs last night. It would have been a 21 day old nest today :(
My guineas were in the neighbors yard this morning. :th

And my kids are already being crazy!! :barnie

Edited to add: Sometime during the past week my bean plants froze in the garden. Guess I put them out too early. :idunno

Edited again to fix my emoticon....sheesshh.

My DH got the tractor and plowed up the entire front yard! I told him I wanted to plant wildflowers so we didn't have to mow and it would be nice to take pics of the kids out there. I was thinking a couple of rows but he went crazy and plowed about an acre or more! Now he's talking watermelon, sunflowers, corn.....ugghh. Here's the pic....

AWESOME!! sorry...know you're upset about it but...AWESOME!!!! What I wouldn't give for a yard like that :D Sunflowers close to the road, then beans, cukes, okra, tomatoes.....the list goes on and on...

The kids will love it ;) Mowing stinks!

It's all fun and games now, wait until he has to weed it all.

Looks like you won't need to go to the grocery store for a whole year! :p

DH goes to school during the day and works at night. He only has one day a week off. This means all the work is on me, that's the only reason I sound pained by this. He doesn't know how much work goes into a garden. I just wanted some wildflowers and sunflowers...sigh...I already have a smaller vegetable garden on the side yard....something more manageable.

Put in a pumpkin patch. Pumpkins smother weeds pretty well so you wont even have to worry about weeding that part of it. Plus you can always sell any excess.
