:idunno I thought maybe that was the issue, but I did keep an eye on them and she was up there in the pecking order. She always got to sit on the top roost. I never had problems with picking, I have no idea lol.

I thought, since she's always had a patchy look to her feathers, that maybe it was a genetic defect of some sort. If you look at her tail feathers, they're in awful condition and she almost looks oily and her feather quality definitely isn't up to par at all.

Well today we made the successful move of the goats to their new digs in the old ice shed. The goats are happy as clams sleeping in a nice deep bed of ... alfalfa hay lol. The chickens are what I'm worried sick about though! They moved into their new digs (6x6ft old goat shed) and we didn't have enough time before the sun went down to cover the big vents near the roof with hardware cloth or fence wire so the chickens have open vents, and plastic on the two bigger side vents. Tomorrow morning they'll be getting covered, but it was just too dark tonight. So I'm staying up tonight to keep an eye out for raccoons, etc. I'm kind of paranoid now though, I'm doing every half hour checks, going out to the coop, opening it and looking in, and every 10 minutes I'm shining the flashlight out the window to make sure nothing is out there because I saw a raccoon on the road earlier this evening.

:/ I'm so concerned, but I turned on all the lights that face the coop, so it gets some light from the house. The two loudest dogs are staying out of their crates tonight. Kitty will bark at anything that moves and doesn't move outside, even the barn cats she sees every single day.

Hopefully we make it through the night, mum will be up at 6am to check them and I'll continue checking them throughout the night.

Wow, staying up all night!?? I hope it went well for you and the chickens were safe. Might I suggest you get a baby monitor? I have one set up in our smaller coop, I can hear if chickens in either coop are frightened, Heck, I can even hear the sheep on the other side of the property...sometimes...right from the comfort of my own bed. :)

I do have a baby moniter but we don't have electrics in any of the outbuildings except the big barn unfortunately and we haven't put a plug on the front porch yet so I can't plug in the extension cord as it won't stretch farm enough.

We made it through the night though, I fell asleep around 5am because really... lol I don't think anything was going to bother us. The dogs didn't make a peep, and they often will bark at cats they see every single day so I knew they'd make a racket if something was out there.

Goats are happy too! Right now they'll be locked up for a couple days in the new barn, I want them to settle in and get used to it. I was worried because they didn't eat their feed last night, but when I went in this morning they'd attacked it and the bowl was halfway across their shed. Right now the goats are sunbathing in a patch of sun from a south facing window lol.
