I passed!! I had *no* idea I had to do a parallel park, 3-point turn, and emerge break on my test! I thought it was just highway, and today was my first time parallel parking the truck LOL.

He took that clog in there with him ;) doesn't he just look so angry?

And the little poodle in my arm is Lulu, the 1 year old pup we bought in November. She's so super adorable!

It's been so nice the last week and then...3 days of windy, chilly, rainy weather. It sucks. Mylie looks miserable, Luna looks miserable and everything is mud in the fields. I was going to move Mylie over to the west field so I could seed the one she's in, but this morning I woke up to find the west field was under water. Whoops, there goes that plan. Oh well, I'll figure it out eventually.

This year mum wants to take a different direction with our garden. Unfortunately we appear to be in the middle of the worlds weeds congregation and thus plot gardening is a back-breaking nightmare, despite having rather fertile soil. I picked up the SFG book at Lowes a couple weeks ago and I think this could actually work well for us, so I found some huge bags of Peat Moss at Lowes, and compost (plus the stuff from our animals), and found a really huge bag of Vermiculite at Thrashers in Belleville and I'm off to the races...

I also started some seeds in the last week or so and so far some of them have popped up. I think I've got some Cukes up (pickling), and pumpkin coming up as well as some early start peas to go in in the next two weeks under the polytunnels. I also planted some cut flower sunflowers, and will be starting some lupins tomorrow morning.

I can't wait to get the soil in the raised beds and everything all set up :)

ooohhh... I can't find big bags of vermiculite anywhere... my beds are 4 feet wide and 28 feet long, so I need a TON of it and I can't find anything but little tiny bags in the garden centers.

I'm actually really excited to do the square foot gardening thing... last year I only had a few raised beds, but they produced more than the 25x25 garden... this year everything is SFG :)

We still have a couple of feet of snow though, so for now I'm just looking longingly at the seed packets :weee

;) No snow here! It snowed yesterday oddly when it was raining. lol. People don't believe me when I tell them we can have both at the same time. Snain LOL.

I've got some plants started, cucumbers, sweet pumpkins, and started peas are coming up and I started some Pacino sunflowers, and Russian big sunflowers, and Lupins are going in today. Instead of the snow, we have tons of mud :( my Palomino horse is now chestnut!

I got the vermiculite, after lots of driving around and being disappointed, at a local nursery owned by a feedmill lol. They had this tiny bag on the shelf an im like "do you have the vermiculite or perlite in a bigger bag?" and she's like "yep, 110 litre" ... who the frick measures a bagged thing in litres?! well I can tell you its huge anyway lol. Expensive though, at $22/bag...the perlite isn't much cheaper at $19.00/bag. I also managed to get peat moss in 10 cu. ft. bags! thats huge! the co-op only sells in the 3.3 cu. ft. bags :D so I feel accomplished lol. I can't wait to do the SFG stuff, I can start planting soon under my polytunnels.
