Congrats on your son getting through basic training! I understand having those pride/panic feelings with my son in the Marines. The source of many gray hairs!

Enjoy your new canner. I just got one last summer, and I'm addicted!

Ya the P&P's still get me I can say a lot of gray hairs are with my Sons name on them LOL But I'm furious proud of him and it's so hard to be up beat when he is the one who is now questioning his decision he 's still in AIT and a lot of stupid stuff is going on, so I try to keep telling him it won't always be that way and keep his head up and get a good education out of it .. Oh well can't hold his hand all the time but boy do I want to :rolleyes: I know I'ts amom thing as for the canner I'm on clould nine about it See for once Dh got me sonmething I really wanted and he didn't bat a Eye about it He only said now U will use it right ??I just wanted to:smack him he is trying to understand this SS stuff and he does see where it will be good it's just a big change for him

Well the furnace went out tonight :rant :somad and it's going down to low 20's we have a Eden pure type heater as a back up and a friend is bring a kerosene heater over, Grrr I'm so sick of cold weather I really wish spring was here and or I had wood heat furnace

:hugs Did your electricity go out so the furnace isn't working or the whole thing went kaput? That is no fun. When our power has gone out, it seems like if we can keep up with hot liquids, it makes us feel much warmer. Bring on the hot tea and hot cocoa!

the blower went kaput LOL it might be fixed tomorrow in the mean time I've been sick with some kind of bug,:sick but they said I didn't have the Flu ... thank goodness so the two days that I have been off the only thing I got done was make laundry soap today , and I got 4lbs of lard but don't know how to use it LOL I guess I'll learn soon enough

Yea My furnace is fixed And I got my Bread and Butter machine today:celebrate now I just need to get some raw milk to make butter or can I use cream?? I don't know I have never maked butter before LOL

I'd like to make butter as well - from what I've read you use raw milk. I'm not sure about cream.

I think it depends on how pasteurized it is. I seem to recall reading on here that ultra pasteurized cream doesn't do that good for making butter.

Well I making butter I know using a machine is not very SS but It does help I found out if I don't have raw milk I can use Heavy whipping Cream so I'm giving it a shot will let u all know later how it turns out
