I thought about ACV the other day but I don't know enough about goat digestion.

The other kid from this doe is doing really well....I should have named her pogo stick leg. I think for now I'm just going to give her the probios and watch her and let her keep Ginger nursed as much as possible. I think Ginger would have a fit if I took both away right now and the other one just looks too good.

Now....I'm off to milk again and try to bottle feed this guy.

Good luck - I wouldn't take the doeling away either, but the little guy sure does need a break.

Wait...are you going to try bottle feeding the buckling with the scours some milk? I don't think that's a good idea - I thought that if a kid has the scours you want to keep them off milk until they are better...

Have you tried posting a thread on BYH? Maybe some of those experts can help better than I could...

Well he has a bellyful of his medication now, we will see how that works.

I am NOT his favorite person.

I am NOT Ginger's favorite person either. We had to find a new way to bolt her stall shut because she busted out, hearing him crying for her. Very dedicated mommy. I have to chuckle. Even I can hear her crying for him when I'm outside.

So I'll try another bottle in a few hours and see what kind of poo I get.

I just LOVE studying goat poo......

No milk glenolam....his special medication for scours. I think it has a gelatin like quality to it because it has a weird consistency. I suspect it will solidify his waste.

Oh, OK! I thought when you said bottle you meant bottle of milk - I wasn't thinking medicine! Glad to hear you got it down him, though.

Are you keeping him inside? Do you think he'd do OK if you bolted him in the stall with Ginger? It might make it less stressful on both of them if you do, but if he's that bad it might be best to keep him separate. :hu

Her stall is quite small, maybe 5 x 6 and with her hay and grain and water it is pretty full. He looks okay at the moment. I am going to get some more of his MEDICINE bottle down him in a little bit.

We are having a huge windstorm all of a sudden. Probably 40-50 miles per hour gusts. I hate to take him in and out in this, I'm afraid I'll fall again.

May it blow all the cold air out of the rest of the US!

Those sites are actually quite helpful although the situations are a little different. I see the dosage for kaolinpectin there too which was going to be my next question. I was advised to give two feedings of the scours treatment first and then the kaolin stuff, so I'm going to do that soon.

Thank you so much everybody for your assistance in educating SD on baby goat maintenance! There seemed to be so much information I was having trouble focusing on which to try.

I'm learning a lot just reading this thread. Good info to have on hand if I ever do get babies.
