I think he is better, not sure. :caf

He still is scouring....temp still 103. But he is fighting me about eating and yelling more and seems less dehydrated.

I finished the scouring product and went to giving electrolytes and the kaolin pectin, around 3-4 ccs about eight hours apart. The latter is certainly not his favorite.

I woke up at 2:00 AM when one of the foster dogs heard him bawling (bless her heart) and woke me up. I gave him a warmed bottle then and noticed a lot of poo. I was wondering if he is getting it out of his system. I cleaned him off. This morning there was less poo, but still some there. He ate is bottle really well this morning but doesn't like me!

Another goat person is saying to give goats milk and not electrolytes.....this can be so confusing. :he So far I'm sort of following the directions from that website link I posted for treating baby goat diarrhea.

He is certainly not WORSE. I wonder if I should give more probiotics? He has had quite a bit now.

Also wonder if this other person is right that he should be having goats milk. The other site says he should NOT.....:hu

At least I don't need to run to any stores for goats milk....I have a lot now. I probably have enough of Ginger's milk to feed him several days if needed.

From what I understand you do NOT give them any milk until they have formed regular baby goat poo again. If he's still messing himself he still has some bug inside him that needs to run it's course. As with a human, milk will only upset the digestive system so it'd be best to keep him off milk until he's 100% better.

But not worse.... :thumbsup

So....here's the question now - are you going to bottle feed him milk now or try to get him back on Ginger once he's A-OK?

PS - what a cute picture of you both!

That was the plan I was sticking with, glad you confirmed it. Right now he is having NO poo which I have to assume is a good thing. He drank a bottle for me really well at noon but just now was fussing and fighting me and wanted down, wouldn't let me put the nipple in his mouth and was being a general pill, after being a sweetie last night. So I think this is good.

I certainly HOPE I can put him back with Ginger. She is inconsoleable! She is pacing back and forth, bawling for him. It is enough to break your heart. The doeling is trailing along behind her to nurse. She has NOT forgotten I have her baby in the house and every time I look out the window her mouth is opening, so she is probably making a huge racket. Good thing our neighbors are far, far away.

I think he will be ready to go back to her soon, I'm hoping tonight. I'm just waiting on a normal poo now.

Buckley's Song

*Savingdogs clears throat.....excuse the language here, but this was originally an EARTHY song so it inspired this. Begins singing to the tune of Otis Redding's Dock of the Bay.*

S*#tin' in the mornin' sun
He was sh**nin when the evenin' come
Watching the scours roll in
And then wonderin what Ill do again?

I'm sittin' on the internet
Typin questions to the goatie set
Ooo, I'm just sittin' here makin a bet
Buckley aint done for yet

I left my home in Cali
Headed for the great northwest
Needed some goaties to live for
But needed to figure out what is best

So he was scouring to beat the band
Savingdogs needed to take him in hand
Ooo, so inside the house he came
Bottle time

Look like nothing's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can't do what all goat people tell me to do
So I guess I'll just listen to you, yes

Im just a waitin on a normal poo
Cuz Glenolam says thats what to do
While Ginger tries to grows new horns
To get inside.

Now, I'm a sittin her at Buckleys side
And I hope you dont think Im bein snide
Oooo-wee, but were just sitting here watching for poo
All the time

You slay me :gig

We got our buckling disbudded today. I feel we can handle the does, but I was glad she did the buckling because he had alot of horn growth and she had to do a 'figure eight' burn. I can't even describe it. She also reserved 2 of the does to purchase :D
