Not sure what I'll do yet with the tall jars, but I just couldn't resist them :)

Gina, no worries on the hat and scarf--I can let you know when the postal strike is over. Winter won't be here for another 6 months! Have you used any of the patterns yet?

Canned up 14 half-pints of Strawberry-Rhubarb Jam yesterday with our home-grown rhubarb and some beautiful strawberries I picked up at the Farmer's Market on Sunday, and today I'm pressure canning 8 pints of ground bison for easy dinner fixin's. Also put together two meat loaves and made up some chicken dishes for the freezer (but not the whole big cook like I did last time, as the canned ground bison makes it almost as easy to put together a quick dinner).

No sewing done yet. I have been working in the garden too much for that.

I really need to get some strawberries this year. I promised my 5yo she would get strawberry jam.

It's been a couple years.

Well, the Canada Post strike is over and mail will start moving tomorrow. :)

Had a great weekend Pathfinder Girl Guide (like Girl Scouts, see my post #70 above) camp this weekend despite Sunday morning's rain and subsequent lesson for the girls on how to break camp in the rain and having to send the tents home with girls to set up at home to dry out.

The garden grew by leaps and bounds during the 3 days I was away, I will have to get out there and take some photos--Friday and Saturday's hot sun and yesterday morning's rain (today is hot and sunny again) really have things growing!

(typo )

Total SCORE on canning jars yesterday, I keep my eye on Kijiji for deals (most of our furniture is beautiful second-hand real wood like oak or teak because of Kijiji) and noticed an ad for canning jars:

Wide Mouth Canning Jars with rings (used)
43 quart and 15 pint jars as per the attached photos. 3 smaller jars included as well. $10
Here's the photo from the ad:

Picked them up last evening and they are in beautiful pristine condition, even though many are older 1970s-1980s era Jewel and Gem jars and the masons are marked with the old Dominion Glass Company logo (all Canadian brands).

I don't have any other Jewel/Gem jars but my Canadian Tire store stocks the rings and lids so I'm off to pick some up today so these new jars are ready to be filled and added to the pantry!

Still amazed, 61 jars for $10 :D

Holy moly! What a deal.... I'm soooooo jealous. A lot of my jars are yard sale finds or were given to me, but I still had to go buy new jars this year. :(

Thanks! Not too shabby for a cell phone photo, eh?
