Well I started hand stitching it..but then decided to machine it instead...there's pics on this link
www.morelcabin.piczo.com

It's almost finished...I just have to put the binding on it. Now it is NOT perfect by "quilters standards...but it is a really nice peice of art:>) I'm taking a quilting course in a couple of weeks and making my daughter her Christmas gift while I'm at it.

Ohhhhh.....nice machine that 1200! You are going to LOVE quilting with it! Mine is the 900...not quite as fancy as what you have...yours has the bigger quilting area on it, which would have come in really handy for me:>)

Ahhh, finally some time to get back to my journal instead of just read a write a blurb here and there! It has been such a busy winter and spring so far! I finally sandwiched my daughters quit this morning, it is the first traditional quilt I have done...reversed 9 patch I think it's called. I am going to hand stitch the top on this one throught the summer on rainy days, and today was a rainy day.

I have 25 chicks I ordered this spring. Partridge chanteclers, buff chanteclers, partridge rocks, and some banty buff brahmas. I also am over run with silkies right now, I let my hens hatch some out this spring and I have to get rid of some! My henhouse is full!

We are getting gardens ready for planting. Had to dig the grass out of the new 40x 18 ft garden we started last year. That is work! And the bugs are terrible here right now! Almostr done and DH will rototill it for me this weekend after I add a bunch of topsoil and manure. I actually found heritage seeds at our local garden center, surprise surprise! THey didn't have a bg slelction, but they had a few things I can plant straight into the ground. Cukes and tomatoes are still hybrid for this year.

I bought the BEST book the other day. It's called the Encyclopedia of Country Living - 10th Edtion - the origional manual for living off the land and doing it yourself...by Carla Emery This book is the best I have seen so far for everything self sufficient. From choosing and buying land to growing everything you need, to maple sugaring, livestock raising, fowl, food preservation and recipes, beekeeping...EVERYTHING all in one resource. I love this book! Every night I go to bed and devour more and more of it's contents.

I finally have DH convinced to let me work toward getting a couple of goats, but it won't be till next year. I have to prep the land for them and fence...and grow a treeline so they can't be seen from the lake! But he will let me do it:>) Haha!
