I know exactly how you feel. One of my neighbors told me the same thing. Do what you have to do. And my question was always, why do you want me to shoot your dog? I never understood that mentality.
Plus that particular person would not have sued me so if you feel comfortable with that go for it. Because I totally agree.
The people that were going to sue me are not my friends. They are in fact new neighbors who had been told for 3 months to keep their 4 dogs contained. After one got run over and we had a big blow up plus we were accused of shooting at their 10 year old son. (Which of course we did not). They are finally keeping the remaining 2 dogs put up. (I have no clue where the 3rd dog is, it just disappeared as far as I know). Honestly, I did not do a thing to that dog. I don't know if they ever found it or not. But of course you know I was blamed for that as well. The deputy that had to come see me on several occasions due to the new neighbors accusing me of everything from killing thier dogs to shooting at their 10 year old told me - You do know, that anyone can sue anyone for any reason. They might not win but you will lose all that time and money fighting it, not to mention the aggravation. But he also told them - KEEP THE DOGS UP. Around here it is illegal to allow your dogs to run loose.
Irresponsible pet owners drive me crazy. :rant

Got any gloppy chicken doo available? I'd put on some rubber gloves, catch that dog, and thoroughly massage that poop into her fur, especially around her face and neck. I'd see if there was anything fresh in the catbox to use, too. Send her home with a message. When the neighbor responds, smile innocently and say, "Dogs! They do love to roll in poo, don't they?"

You will be the one who gets arrested if you shoot a gun in a close neighborhood.....be careful. You can also drive the dog to a shelter a good distance away. Oops, she has no collar, I saw her running in the street and picked her up. Oh, my name? Jane Doe.

This particular dog is always rolling in dead stuff, we have an overpopulation of deer around here, and that dog has a habit of going and rolling in the carcasses, taught my dog to do the same...yuck! So chicken doo-doo is not going to match that by any means. Nope the only way to cure this problem is with a dead dog...or I can not so fatally wound it and he can have a huge vet bill...but that would lead to the vet pressing charges over cruelty to animals so I had best be done and just kill it. This guy really burns me, and I will say this, I am his friend no longer, and he is going to know that too.

My husband is really good freinds with him, and will say nothing to him about it...I hate WEAK MEN!

Wow 2dream...I would die if I got blamed for shooting a kid! That must have been hard on ya

Morel, that is funny about the man thing. Do you know that when my DH talks to any of the MAN neighbors (their dogs actually follow them over here). He will tell them, "you better get that dog away from Wanda's rabbits, chickens or garden (whichever the case may be) cause SHE will shoot them. Duh.....Why not say - Man, you need to tie that dog up before I am forced to kill it.

Edited to add all this:
And we were accused of shooting AT the kid. Not shooting him. But still, how stupid and callous do they think we are. I have children and grandchildren. I can not imagine even shooting at an adult unless my life was in danger. They are just idiots that want to let their dogs run loose and will go to any lengths to accomplish that goal inculding accusing me of anything. We have never had neighbors like these before so it has been an unsettling experience. The same kid I am accused of shooting at is the same young man I offered to help build a chicken pen, till up a piece of ground for him because he wanted to plant some green beans and I offered him for free, 4 chickens because he wanted some.

Around here, if you try to take an animal to a shelter, they charge you to take them! They are overrun with animals from irresponsible people. They charge the person dropping off an animal $25 for cats. I think its $35 for dogs.

Oh I know, my DH says about the same...and the going joke around here is that my neighbors don't want *me* on thier bad side! My Dh on the other hand, is 'the nicest guy around' ughh! He never stands up for me...no matter what...when I get upset with him over it he says "You're pretty good at standing up for yourself"

You are so right about that! We used to live in a place that was just a 'drop off spot' for animals that were unwanted. I quickly learned to just drop them a little further down the road if they showed up on my door, otherwise they ended up costing ME money to get rid of!
There was a farmer down the road a way from us that I knew 'took care of things like that' with his rifle, so I dropped them there

Even the nicest neighbors can break bad on you about something like this, Morel. I would definitely kill the dog. I would do it more subtley, though. Gun shots can be heard, witnesses too many. A nice doggy treat of "granola bar" hand fed to poochy is merely a kindness from one neighbor to another. ;)

A tastey bar of One Bite rat poison does wonders and acts very quickly. They just bleed out internally....not really painful, merely like having a full belly after a big meal. The main ingredient is warfarin...or coumadin, for all you folks on blood thinners! :p

I've taken care of humans who have bled to death internally and they never really complain of pain, just restlessness for a little while, then they sleep and don't wake up. I know, I know....it all sounds so morbid, but I've gotten the chance to study this death thingy up close and personal for quite awhile.

And I would feed one to every other dog they acquire until they get the idea that their dogs just can't seem to survive around there.

ETA: I've actually shot my neighbor's dog before and it can get a little messy what with the police showing up and all! ;)

I hear you on wanting to shoot the neighbors dog! Mine has a rotweiller mix and it circles my coop and goes after my kids. I want to shoot the dog in the worst way! But, so far it has not actually attacked. We live right next door to them so we can not shot and hide it quick enough because they are always home. They just let the dog run loose off its chain. My DH will not man up and go tell them to keep it off our property or it will be gone. When I have my CCW and start carrying on a regular basis they better hope the dog does not come near me!! But I KNOW that it will cause us a ton of headache with the neighbor because they will be spiteful!
