Morel, that quilt rocks! All of my quilts have been relatively traditional squares and patterns. The most complicated thing I've done is some hand embroidery on a train baby quilt I did and a sampler quilt my mom and I worked on. That is just gorgeous! You are making me want to go get a new machine now but I need to save up a little more money first!
Funny thing is...I can't quilt traditional block quilts....I seriously cannot sew a straight line....or even cut one for that matter:>) But I wanted to create quilts so badly I decided to do them like I paint:>) It seems to be working!
Thanks for the compliments everyone...I got the backing today so in a couple of days it should be done! Then I want to try a couple of small projects that take real sewing courage...I am not good at those...if it comes with a pattern I just can't do it:>) I think I am pattern dislexic LOL!
Here's my latest creation... I was asked to make a quilt for Fred...and I have designed it in "blocks" Large ones of different sizes. Each block is going to have a picture of him and his skidoo experiences. This one is soooo much fun! I have put my sons quilt on hold for now because this one has to be done for Freds birthday in March. Hope you like it...this is the first of 11 or so blocks. It's a 20" x 20" block picture. THe others are tricks he does, this was just a beautiful picture of a trailride he took last winter. His girlfriend took the picture and I found it on facebook:>)
Got two of the easy blocks almost done...tomorrows block is going to be a hard one! Alot of detailing...he's jumping farm fences in the next one:>) I think I am going to add a barn n the background to fill it in.
He's doing much better than they expected. He actually sat up in his body cast on Saturday so we are pretty sure he will be his old self in a few months time. He broke one vertibrea and cracked the other right beside it. Ouch!
I like quilts that tell a story too:>) I was going to start a quilt depicting our house and everything we do around here, but this came up just as I was starting to think about it:>) I will post the blocks as I get them done...no one in the famly is going to see it until it is done...(if I can keep it under my lid that long LOL! So I have to get it out of my system by sharing it with you guys instead. LOL!
