T-giving I went for a nice stroll around a friend's very hilly neighborhood. Not sure how far I made it, but some of those hills were very difficult!

Today I'm back to my 4 mile brisk, hilly walk. I walked to my trail instead of driving there. (I hate this one busy road! :barnie ) Anyway, I measured it in my car and it equals one mile there and one back. I just did two on my usual quiet hilly road along with the walk there and back. Saved gas and I think I'm getting used to the fast cars. (They are supposed to go 40, but I know they are taking advantage of those hills, just like I am!)

If I make this my new route, I will add 2 more huge hills to the walk. I just have to put up with the cars.

Do the downhills take their toll on your back? I have a monster hill that I can only do every 2 days, otherwise I'm out of commission. Uphill causes no problems but the downhill is problematic.

Rather than doing my 3 mile walk today, I did 1/2 hour of tae bo. I think I want to start incorporating more of that into my winter schedule instead of walking everyday.

No Sylvie, the hills don't hurt my back.

They sometimes take a toll on my knees though. These hills arent that steep tho. However, when I hike the mountian (9 miles round trip), on the last mile or so down my knees are about to give out!

I had a road route that I loved to run because it was rolling. We use certain muscles for ascending and different on the descent. I could run for hours on this route without muscle fatigue.
The road was closed most of this year while they "straightened out" the gentle hills. I just drove the new improved road and was flabbergasted.
The rolling hills were gone, the trees that shaded me in high summer were gone. :th

I love when you can find a shaded road to walk/run. I hate to wear suglasses when I'm "working out".

That is too bad Sylvie. :/ What were they thinking?!

Today I hiked the mountain again. I didn't have time to go to the top but I made the 1/2 way mark before I ascended.

It was a 5 mile hike, half up and half down. Kicked my buns! I worked up a sweat and it was only 40 degrees outside!

I'm ready for bed and it is only 5:45 pm!

It rained during my whole 4 mile brisk, hilly walk. I thought, well if I get thirsty I can just lick my upper lip. Then a school bus drove by and I thought well, really all I have to do is open my mouth to get a drink. Just kidding of course! :sick (I'm not sure I like this new route, but I'm sticking to it, it saves gas. Not much, but enough! Everything counts IMO.)

Just tryin' to stay positive :/

Forgot exactly what I did last week, I sorta slacked off after I walked 4 miles in the rain. :/

Sat. I got a nice 1 mile in at one of my favorite parks. It is on a little peninsula, so I could see the dark blue waters of the Sound the whole time. There are an amazing set of stairs up the side of a cliff that are great to hike up and down, get the old ticker moving in high gear.

Sunday I walked my new 4 mile route and shaved 3 minutes off my normal time. I also helped my neighbor Mr. Ben fill the trenches on this "washbord" of a dirt road. Lots of shoveling rocks, my back is sore today!
