If you find a way to send the rain, I'd be ever so grateful!

There's no barn. Just a tarp-covered dog kennel, and a couple of dog houses. However, they have some light from our back porch light ... it's automatic (goes on when it gets dark enough) and is just enough to light up bits and pieces of their pen.

I had something simlar for my goats for the first year or so...You could try hanging something inside. I'm not really sure if it would work or not - they'll probably just get used to the weather eventually.

They are pretty much used to the wind. We're on a ridge, our house on the very top, and the goat pen is right behind (to the east) of our house. We get a LOT of wind but the gusts last night were about 75-80 MPH so it was a bit more than the babies had experienced thus far in their little 2 week lives!

Might consider a little more light there. If I took down a solid wall to their fence and replaced it with actual fencing, they would get a LOT of light from my back porch.

Hmmm... something to think about. Thanks.

Hubby's dad isn't doing well, and doesn't get along (anymore) with daughter's husband. Surprise surprise surprise. So ... MY Hubby wants to move closer to Denver in case FIL needs to move in with us. While I'm not sure I want THAT to happen, I'm ok with moving closer to Denver. Closer to hospitals, doctors, therapies and hopefully friends for my kid.

Unfortunately, I just mentioned this new plan to my kid and he's adamant about NOT moving again. I don't blame him because we've moved a lot in his short life but I really thinking getting closer to town will be the best for all concerned.

So ... looking for an area near Aurora or Centennial where we can have a herd of goats and lots of chickens on a couple of acres.

As a side note, the garage sale/bake sale this weekend brought in about $35 in donations for my son's seizure dog but the garage sale part didn't do very well. Thinking about doing the mile high flea market one weekend. Need about $1,000 to get the puppy/training started.

AND I milked our goats today. The one has only one baby left and she keeps drinking from only one side. I milked her to even out her udder but she HATES to be milked to Hubby had to hold her butt up. Lots of beautiful rich milk that I had to go and BURN on the stove! ARGH!

The other doe did absolutely great, especially since it was the first time ever being milked. Didn't give much but I think it's because her twins keep snacking all day long.

Had someone look this weekend at buying the boy. Supposed to get an estimate tomorrow (Monday) at castrating him then call with the cost. He's such a very sweet little boy. AND we're thinking about keeping one of the girls. She's just too adorable. Heck, they all are!

Looked out of my son's bedroom window and watched the three babies playing. Too cute. No clue how we're going to manage to sell them. The people who wanted the boy backed out today. Oh well.

Anybody need some goat babies? 2 girls, 1 boy. Moms are Nigerian Dwarf (sisters) and the father is Peter, an alpine/nubian cross. Let me know.

I'm really late planting my garden but did manage to get a little done today. A 4x8 bed with 3 kinds of summer squash, a bush cucumber, and soy beans. Also planted a little corn, green beans, and some waltham butternut squash. Moved pots around so I can get to the tomatoes tomorrow. I hope.

My garage flooded with the huge rainstorm we had last night. Hadn't put things away from the garage sale last weekend. And I'd used boxes to hold on boards to make tables so those are now useless.

One of my easter eggers might be broody. She was in a laying box all day. I finally reached under her late afternoon and grabbed 3 eggs. She was still there at dusk when I closed everyone up for the evening. If so, I'll need to move her.

The rainstorm kept me up last night. Plus I think my son had another seizure sometime during the night. So I'm exhausted. Already took a sleeping pill so hope to be sleeping within an hour.

Have a wonderful evening, all!

WOOHOO! Got a call from the service dog trainer: she found us a puppy! And it's just what my son wants, and what we need. He wanted a boy, white lab (like Kryto the Superdog). Is sweet, great temperment, low prey drive (great since we have chickens and mini goats), and is smart (first of the litter to find the doggy door).

Now we just need the money! Local fire department is deciding tonight whether to help us fundraise or not. HOPE HOPE HOPE.

Oh my ... just realized, this house is NOT puppy proof. Will come home on July 11 so I guess I better get moving.

Still...

Hate to write this but ... I'm a little, actually, very angry about something that happened on a sister site so I'm gonna sit out for a while. Now is the time that people should support one another, not make things more difficult.

Thank you.
