Oh I forgot to update- my husband talked to the neighbor, he was just taking down a few pine trees and has since stopped cutting. He took one down that we have been nervous about hitting our house every storm we have!

Also every year my neighbor sights in his muzzleloader the day before the start of the season. Well, must be season starts tomorrow because he's out there this afternoon. I like it, it's like a welcome to fall sound to me. My dogs, however, NOT impressed. Particularly my chow mix who is shaking so violently he looks like he could have a heart attack any moment. We shoot here all the time but for some reason this particular gunshot really flips him out. Might be that there's a long gap between shots, or the tone of the shot, I don't know, but poor Lui is a mess!

Every time he starts to calm down, he shoots again! There's about 20 minutes between shots.

Rifle season starts 11/8! Woohoo!

It won't be too full, we have low limits up here! DH and I can each get one... That's about it! Lame. But the freezer will have some anyway!

My freezer is not going to cut it. I have almost an entire pig, 7 chickens and 3 turkeys plus apple sauce and assorted garden goods in there now. Somehow I have to fit another pig, 12 or so more chickens and a deer or two.... Good thing my parents have extra freezer space!

I know! We have a 17 cubic ft one... I think I'll cook a turkey this week to make some space. And 3 of the chickens I'll thaw and can for soup. So... That'll be some more space anyway! Piggie isn't very big.

Tax bill should be in the mail today. Guess I better go see how bad it is...

We bought a second freezer. #1 is full and I need to clean it out. #2 had half a beef and two lambs in it, still have some room. We are taking both pigs to slaughter November 6, have one sold. Dunno where I'm going to put this pig!

Pig smashed a hole in the corner of her pallet house. I knew it wasn't in great shape but really pig? So she got out again... Had to call DH. I got her headed the right direction and he came home and fixed her up.

So, we are butchering Sunday morning so we can get the pig hanging and move the good house so we can get the big pig fenced in with the sturdier house. DH has to work tomorrow (it's DD's birthday. I am SO mad about him working but he swears it'll only be a half day)

Farm life... Sigh.
