Not really. Especially since he'll be gone half the day! I'm making pizza and cupcakes for dinner though, as requested. DH also has to get the freezer finished tomorrow so we can butcher Sunday.

I have to get a few groceries and DD has a little birthday money from my FIL burning a hole in her pocket so we'll deal with that while DH works. And hope the pig doesn't get out while nobody's home! Oh and we promised we would carve a pumpkin tomorrow night also.

We are celebrating DD's birthday (and sort of DH's also) Tuesday with my parents. Then going on a day trip Wednesday. So she'll have plenty of celebrating!

Think I'm getting my new goat girls next Sunday. Good, gives us time Saturday to set up their pen.

DD was upset we are butchering the new pig. Usually they're bigger and less cute... DH did a great job explaining why we are doing it now. She says it's ok but she wants another red pig sometime. Lol, we can make that happen!

I hope they were also. One, I'm not worried about, she's been bred before. The other, we'll see. But they're both bred to the same buck and he's proven many times over! He's also got blue eyes- would be cute to have blue eyed babies! Of course you can't milk eye color, but it's fun to see what pops up!

Clifford was crazed today. He alternated between chasing Patty around blubbering and just bouncing. Up on the rocks, around the pen, just acting like a crazy kid! Must be something in the air, lol! He also smells horrid, and the dampness from 2 days of solid rain does not help matters!

Poor Clifford, lol. Why do I not feel sorry for bucks these days?

Blue eyed babies would be soooo cute!

Must get DD a new red pig! Whatcha gonna breed your piggy gal to? Any possibilities of red babies there?

Oh is she not bred?

How much meat is on one of your lambs? Our of curiosity.
They dress out about half.

Don't know if sow is bred, don't care. I am not set up for farrowing a litter in winter and don't need another project to build. So they both go and we'll have plenty of meat. LOL

don't need another project

That's a valid reason!

not set up for farrowing a litter in winter

This part is easy....PLENTY of straw. They will actually put it in the hut, cover babies, uncover at feeding time & RECOVER them when done!! They are amazing. I've had large ones farrow in past and the two AGH ladies farrowed last December here. They really do a great job. However, if a piglet hangs on to a nipple and gets drug out, not as good at getting them back in as say a cat/dog. That's a problem.
