DH has always wanted us to do the same thing....and I'm all for it! I think its a wonderful way to give back. Most of us are lucky enough to have the basic necessities (and more) taken care of in our lives - so why not help those who don't?

What we have done here (at work) is to identify students in our program whose families need that kind of help. We put together meals for them and deliver a day or so before Thanksgiving. We've even paid electric bills for families. We hear all the stories here....dad got laid off from one of his jobs...the other job is minimum wage and 20 hrs a week...mom is in the hospital and can't work...mom has handicap child and can't work...dad died... just one tragedy after another. Most of our students are low income and have more challenges than they deserve to deal with at their age. That's life - right? But, it's a life that we can help make a little easier - so it's what we do. :)

They're lucky to have folks like you!

DH isn't working today because it's raining and they have no inside work this week. So, was all excited to get things done and his friend showed up... He shot a deer and can't find it. So now DH is off in the woods looking for it. I wouldn't mind except this particular friend is the type who will drag DH to the weigh station with him (and he doesn't go to the one in town, he drives 25 minutes to weigh in for some unknown reason) and up to his house so he has help skinning. So there goes our day. He says he'll be right home but I think he's underestimating his friend here.

Anyway friend started bragging about how he got a huge 10 pointer.... After we were talking last week about how big old bucks taste awful. Sigh.

Rifle season starts in 2 days. We don't have a muzzleloader so we're patiently waiting through this season! Going to be cold this week too, good for hanging if we can keep it from freezing!

Ugh....some friends are just a lot of trouble, lol. Hope DH finds it for him quickly and gets back home. He's got brakes to work on! :D

Rifle season - woo hoo! Hope that fills your overloaded freezer some more!

Nah it was my parents' truck (they have a suburban, more space!), they had AAA bring it to their repair shop. He does have to finish working on the pig fence though!

This particular "friend" is a PIA. I can't stand him, he'll take up your entire day when he needs help, tell you how awesome he is, and disappear when you need help. DH is way too nice!

DH is home. No deer but home. His friend got someone else to go back out with him in a little bit. Now to the pig fence.

DD has class today, then grocery shopping and the library. Tuesdays are our busy day.

Pig is moved to fresh ground, next mission is to move the part of the goat pen that is in the way of where our barn will be, so we are prepared to do site work. I'm getting a little anxious about winter preparations- forecast for Friday night says low of 16! It's coming! Eek!
