Had birthday celebrations at FIL's but BIL and his girlfriend were there so we didn't talk about anything personal. DH said he'd mention our house conundrum in the morning when he gets to work.

I'm so exhausted from people-ing, and I always have a glass of wine there, this time it gave me a migraine. Some kinds are ok, other kinds are painful! I'm so glad we don't go big on Halloween, I'd be dreading tomorrow! We'll hang at home and play with presents all day, then go to my mom's and eat candy. That's the extent of our trick or treating.

Am I the only one who thinks it's odd we spend the whole year saying "don't take candy from strangers " and one day a year we drive them all around. To take candy from strangers?

Absolutely crazy! Seriously, I think "trick or treating" as a whole needs to be replaced with another option. And, I think it's a shame.... :(

I don't know... My youngest daughter (22) makes for a nice witch.

She absolutely does!

I'm certainly not advocating for a disappearance of Halloween. In my little town they offer options. Some of the businesses, churches and civic organizations get together and have "trunk or treat" in a large parking lot. They all register to give away treats (from the trunk of their car, truck, suv, or some even set up booths) and it's considered a safe alternative to having kids traipsing through neighborhoods and going to a stranger's home. Not foolproof I guess - but a good alternative.

They have started doing that here too! A lot of them have games as well as candy. I prefer that to traditional trick or treat, absolutely. DD is overwhelmed with crowds and scared of a lot of the Halloween stuff anyway but maybe next year we'll try one of those events. Heck, my entire family is overwhelmed with crowds lol.

So we are searching for places to put in here, probably a single wide and we can put on an addition in the spring/summer. Don't have time for the concrete to harden before winter if we got anything bigger. And right now it's kind of an emergency, get a healthy house situation! It'll be cheaper too, and having one income cheap is good. A lot of dealers are trying to offload before winter so we might luck out and get a good deal... DH is making phone calls today, and my parents are doing the same because they know some people.... I wouldn't even mind downsizing a little, I'm a little more minimalist than DH though.
