Your voice popped into my head yesterday and I almost made a fool of myself....let's face it though, that is not hard.

My 16 yr old went riding with a friend. They know a lady who has 3 horses and she lets them ride. She also has a few chickens (in a pretty small chain link type pen).....and a mess of goats in 3 different pens. The animals really don't look great and it stinks to high heaven on her property. Judging by the heaps of junk laying around I am guessing that she is just not all that tidy or really over run with animals...

So I wanted to see the new kids...DD brought us into the back to show us. There was one little pen with 2 mamas and 3 babies. One was just born 2 days ago and the others like a week or two ago.

When I poked my face in those little goaties started pip poppin all over the place! I enthusiastically exclaimed....'look at those pip poppin little goaties!"
DD & Hubby looked at me like "huh?" .....nevermind.

Now I know what pip poppin little goaties are :ya

We had an Ohiofarmgirl moment here last night too.

I think I may be raising a mini-me-ofg ;) of my own. You see, we are having trouble with Tex our Ameraucana rooster. (People tell me I shouldn't have named him Tex ;) I should have named him a good mid-western name like "Glen". :p

Anyhoo... Tex has been pushing around my prized egg layer and all around favorite chicken Ruby. He is just beating her up for no apparent reason.

Last evening I told my daughter to lock Tex out of the coop/run so the girls especially Ruby can have a break from him. She was wearing her crocks and it was muddy...anyone know how durn slippery those things are?! She already slipped once and was covered all down one side with mud. (Yes I laughed!)

While she was recovering from that slip, slick Tex snuck into the run and then into the coop (he is usually last so he can bully all the girls who are trying to get ready for bed). He must have known something was up because this time he ran up those chicken steps and into the coop pushing a few of the gals right off the steps.

By now Sam (my dd) was fuming. She kicked off those crocks and ran after him barefoot. She fell again hopping over the small permanent fence that keeps the sheep out while the chickens free range the yard. (It has a hole cut into the bottom so the chickens can go in and out to eat.) By now I'm looking out the kitchen window laughing uncontrollably.

Then her inner ofg came out and she got up again and stormed over to the coop where Tex was cowering like the sissy-bully that he is. She swung up the big door grabbed him by the legs and yanked his buns out upside down. :p There she held him like that until she shooed in the rest of the stragglers so she could lock the gate for the night.

That was a sight to be seen, she was covered in mud, barefoot and holding a giant red rooster upside down by the feet. I was so proud! :love
