So someone else has the same problem that we do with the driveway? Mud, mud mud and deep tire tracks. We found out that the original people who built the house didn't have the driveway done correctly. We can't afford to have the driveway redone (quote of $15k) so we just keep putting more stone down.
ok did we have the same previous home owner? EVERYTHING here was done half a$$ed... (pardon my french). we specifically asked them if there was a drainage problem? oh no.. none at all.. yeah right. the front yard looks like a rice paddy..... grrrrr...
so we get a ton of gravel (8L - small pea sized crushed limestone) for about $20 a ton... we'll start doing this almost everytime we take the big truck to town. with all these little pitter patter, flippityflop feet we are totally in mud soup. sheesh! plus i hate mowing so if it cant be grazed...its razed and gravel is put down.
Either the same homeowner or relatives! Everything here was done half a$$ed too. We had to replace our roof last year because we found out that the metal roof was installed incorrectly and there was no way to fix it and we had major leaking problems. As we were replacing light fixtures, we had to fix some of the wiring as well. Not to mention that we have a log home and it had NEVER been polyurethaned. We had to powerwash the wood and then it took 3 thick coats of polyurethane. To make it worse, we PAID a home inspector when we bought the house and he said everything looked great.
1. got up and and yelled: OHMIGOSH there's someone in the driveway...which effectively got The Big Man awake and hustling outside.
2. followed him out and shouted curses at the driveway invaders - the electric company guys who razed the trees in front of our house "under the lines" HA! not 50 ft into our property! dang them!
3. checked goat - not dead. A+
4. checked creepy meat chicks - not dead. A+
5. looked adoringly at Miss Duck who had another egg today
6. got bread started
7. shoveled out kitchen
8. went outside to 'manage' the electric company guys as they headed up the hill to the next victim.. i mean tree... a big persimmon in my hen yard
9. got angry stares at hens who are all still inside and mad
10. got laughed at by all males, including husband and electric company guys as i came stomping up the hill and demanded to know what "damage they were going to do now"
11. nearly clocked that guy in the head when he said they were taking the whole down
12. was escorted back to the house and was instructed to 'sit here and look cute' while The Big Man 'handled it.'
Oh dear. I hope the Big Man can put a stop to the electric co. You should see the ugly they created on our road. Made me want to cry. They should have just cut them to the ground instead of humiliating those trees the way they did. I have very strong feelings about this.
Of course the "rich" subdivision 1/4 mile away got them to pass by and leave everything untouched somehow.
