hee hee hee thanks D, but nah... just frustrated with the haters

DL: i loved this:
I want to invest in Gold (buff Orpingtons) and Silver (Laced Wyandottes and Sussexes) myself.
i cant wait for there to be a tv show about "Lifestyles of the not-rich and Farming"

normally the snarky comments dont bug me but it just threw me when a "friend" called, complained about all the (many self created) problems in her life FOR FORTY MINUTES, ended with the "hint" that i should help her (with my money and my time) and then made the jab about how we "had to eat a turkey from the yard." all i could think of was... "i'm not asking YOU for one thing! and i'm not complaining!"

so whatever. we had more turkey and noodles today and they were even better than before. so there.

i tried to snap some shots of Miss Duck's babies but she covered them every time i got close. they are ADORABLE i think there are some tricksters in there for sure...

i think there are 11.. 10 will be off to their new home soon and The Big Man doesnt know i'm keeping the all white one for me! whoot! i loves me an all white duck!

Awesome post!!!! And I couldn't agree more!

I want to invest in Gold (buff Orpingtons) and Silver (Laced Wyandottes and Sussexes) myself.
I have a lot of silver (silver phase welsh harlequins) and gold (gold phase welsh harlequins). I guess the runner and her mixed babies count as bronze or something :D

Wifey- Those will work too. Any animals that provide you with food or helpful goods, count as wealth. Unless the person spends so much on them that it would never even break even. Then, it's just a pet.

ps- Pets are still fine, I just count them as family, not a resource/food source.

Soon I hope to be rolling in the green. The new green - lettuce, broccoli, peas, maybe even zucchini if I'm brave :D But I also have some of that gold and silver lined up in case of a market crash.

I was just reading from TheModernHomestead website about poultry processing that you recommended to me about 6 months ago, OFG, and couldn't help but laugh when I read this and had to share it here:

After such a meal, we sigh with satisfaction and muse, Hmmmm, wonder what the rich folks are eating tonight!

That was an informative article he wrote. Thanks for sending me his direction. :thumbsup

hey DM!

Every time i look at the ducks i hear that quote!

i just love Harvey - probably like some people love Joel. To me Harvey' strategies seem to be really old-timey-but-works.. really integrated, well thought out, and based on traditions that we should keep. i dont think he's in it for the money (not that its a good or bad thing) he just helps folks who farm for themselves. so this really helps me.

And he's got some good thinkin'. I've been reading his articles since I got to The Good Land and he's really inspired what we've been doing here.

And since I'm telling tales.. when my arm was being twisted to blog (you know who you are) I wrote him an email and asked for advice... and he really encouraged me. ME! a stranger! that kind of 'we're all in the together' attitude really just makes me feel good. so i'm a huge fan.

thanks WZ! i cant wait to see the mixed runners... wonder what they will look like. hum..

javamama - i love that you will be rollin' in the green! good one - yay!

i've been moving rocks all day. really. so i can't type one more second. oh no! i just remembered that i still have to milk in a couple hrs... oh man... rock haulin' + milking.. this could take a while...

happy friday!
:)

Harvey sounds like a really great guy! :D I'm glad you felt encouraged to blog, because your blog is fun to read. :)

There used to be a commercial for (I think) some kind of dog chow where they had this dog nosing a rock along the ground and voiced over it "I'm pushin' a rock . . . pushin' a rock . . . " I thought it was applicable to most monotonous chores we humans do . . . like lawn mowing, etc. So it sort of became a joke between my husband and I. Anyway, sorry to hear your day was spent actually hauling rocks around. I hope your evening is more fun! Happy Friday!

I have had the AC on. I am a humidity wimp. I don't function at all when it's humid.
