When I worked for the vets' office we had a 23 yo feline patient. One of the techs was only 21. That was kind of cool!
As for Haagen-Daz, I usually go for rum raisin. Not quite tequila but....
you have no idea how many times that rumor has been started.. ha ha ha ha
and nope based on my experience with these dang goats the only thing i'm giving birth to is a good idea!
ha ha ha ha ha
good to see ya FC!
WZ - she must be one tough Cookie! ha ha ha ha
plus i totally blew the vet's mind with my evil plan to get a water buffalo! it was hilarious.... but for now just a small calf. i'm going to feed him off on goat milk and call him Burgers. and he will be.
all the techs and office staff came out to oooh and aaah over her. it reminded me of when they would put some wig and too much makeup on Liz Taylor and stroll her around in a wheel chair...
Morning ofg, morning everyone else!!
Golly girl, now I'm craving ice cream! And pudding!!
My friend's family are all short and squatty like Nibbles. They came up with a family term to describe eachother..."squatty body". Like, "Brooke got the squatty body from Grandma Moo." (Yup they really call her "Moo". SHE's the one that called the crock pot the Pokey Pot!! Everything has a nick name, I love it.)
What kind of goat is Nibbles? Where did she get that squatty body?? (I think I'm obsessed with little Nibbles!)
how funny.. but you'd need more like a carry on than a purse tho!
Nibbles is a "mini-mancha"....sometimes they call them "mini-munchies" which sounds like a breakfast cereal to me!
she's a Nigerian Dwarf x full sized La Mancha. actually she is a little tall as show quality mini-manchas go... but she's not registered. i bred her with a Nigerian Dwarf buck - so her babies will probably end up smaller than she is. its funny to see the small (Nibbles), medium (Debbie), and large (Evita) goats out there.
i thought i had some pix of her with "dog for scale"... i'll have to dig around.
we liked Nibbles much better than her sister, Morel. Morel had the more nigerian personality - loud, bouncy, temperamental....i finally had enough one day and just sold Morel to a family who loves her.
but Nibbles was quiet and easy going (until she got pregnant then she was nuts). now she's back to being easy going..and still.. i'm amazed at what a good milker she is!
and the pudgy thing is all me. man.... so last fall i thought i read to give her some grain to 'beef' her up for her pregnancy.
WHAT A MISTAKE
when i took her to the breeder the woman took one look at Nibbles and yelled WHAT DID YOU DO DO HER???
i was so embarrassed....
you see, Nibbles had never really had bagged food before. only a little bit in the winter - her whole job was to get out there and free range because its FREE.
well. golly. we finally got her weight down and now she's thick but not huge. whew!
the breeder explained that b/c she has the dwarf gene she will be prone to balloon in size. so we are really watching how much she eats. but she grazes like a pro...which we like
Nibbles is adorable! She looks like a little fuzzy brown tank. What is she, about 2' tall?
Mini-munchies would make a great name for breakfast cereal.
Had an iced cafe au goat this morning and thought of you
i'm one step closer to a goatie - maybe! and the good news is, DH relented and agreed to a goat under these conditions:
1) I have to get a girl - and only a girl -
2) and I can only have one goat
3) if I agree, I can keep said goat in pasture with cows to eat off the brambles or anything the cows don't eat, etc. etc. etc.
and i'm trying to work out a trade to get a goat in the next few days....
the goatie I might be getting is one I already had previously - she's half pygmy half mini - and she could use the one on one attention that being a single goat will give her.
She is a big baby, eats from your hand, and kidded out twins last year.
