How hard do think it is for people to pronounce "Kristin"? You'd be surprised! I get Christine a lot! Kerstin and Christian are also common. It's phonetic for goodness sake! And DO NOT spell it with an "e" if you've known me any length of time. That's inexusable!!

Off my soap box. Good morning OFG! I love Pepper and the squash. We had a Pepper too. Miss that cat!

I knew my hubby really cared for me when he told his mother off because she hurt my feelings. She was a strange bird, but I do miss her.

Speaking of names - my daughter always hated that people mispronounced her last name. She'd tell them in no uncertain terms when they did - and this went of way up into college. The day she graduated, the college President was handing out diplomas and mispronounced her last name. Mom and I both took a big breath and held it. But Sherri just smiled and walked away - first and only time in her life.

Gee. Sometime around when you first joined someone called you Talitha and I thought it was your real name and I know I called you by that a couple times.. but now I know it was a typo! Sorry Tabatha!

Do I get what, Ma-nik? Oh, you mean Mer-leh, Mer-lah, Mer-el-ah, Meryl, Marl, Moral, etc?
Several times I've tried explaining it as Earl with an 'M'. Until one time in 6th grade some girls started singing 'Merle Had To Die' instead of 'Earl Had To Die' by the Dixie Chicks. Maybe I'll start going by my middle name. My grandpa's name is Merl without the extra 'e' and he just uses his middle name Ivan all the time. Makes things easier.

*Leaves saying Dace's name the correct way repeatedly*

...bean day wears on......

about this time i'm glad i did NOT get the whole bushel....

* in the back ground: snap snap snap snap *

its hilarious (to me) that everyone has had such problems with their names. and we are do-it-yourselfers.. hum.. wonder if that had something to do with it! ha! kinda like the boy named Sioux... we all toughened up...or something.

i just call everyone "honey" - its just easier that way
;-)

FF - i THOUGHT that i'd be the fav DIL... b/c i'm the only one... and have only ever been the only one.. for heavens sakes my man was 40 when we got married and he'd avoided it that long. so you'd think she was grateful! HA!

but turns out that door swings both ways so i'm the worst DIL also.. sheesh!

back to beans......

I promise to be a good MIL....one who is kind and generous, one who listens without judgment, one who helps out when visiting, one who graciously compliments my future sons and daughter in law, one who accepts that other people have other ways and that is OK, one who is not full of unsolicited advice, one who focuses on seeing the good in my in laws and letting go of the parts I am not fond of .......that is my plan and I have already instructed my children to set me straight if I stray form this plan!

Merle (Haggard) thank you for remembering my name :hugs

i'm pretty tolerant when people get my name wrong. my last name is a bit troublesome for some, but i just go with it. but the most unforgivable thing someone can do is pronounce my name Lay-ah (as in Princess Leia). apparently Leah (Lee-ah) is often pronounced Lay-ah in the NE. i seriously, seriously, hate it.

i had a student teacher in high school who always called my Lay-ah and i corrected him every time for 3 weeks. when he still couldn't get it right, i just stopped responding to him altogether. he sent me to the principle's office. i explained the situation and informed them that i wouldn't be answering to a name that wasn't mine so they could get over it or switch my class. they just let me head back to class and i spent the rest of the semester ignoring the teacher, who still refused to get my name right.

I can't blame you. Actually I would suggest that you guys were out back and "didn't hear" the message for at least a few hours.... :p
let her call someone else, like a cab or AAA
