Funny I was pronouncing Oregon like a Texan: "or-a-gon" DM taught me that it is really pronounced "or-gan".
I just spent some time catching up. Sorry about the MIL, OFG; I can't relate, mine was a lovely woman.

Actually BBH it is "or-eh-gun".

My first name starts with "U", pronounced "you". I can tell someone my name, and within 30 seconds I will be addressed as "Oo.." Not University, Unicorn, or Unique but something Spanish. And then, to top it off, I married a German, with a last name that is difficult for anyone not Teutonically inclined. Most of the time I just give up and say that I will answer to anything as long as it isn't rude

OFG, you and the big Man might have to take the gun out yet again, but this time for me.

Yes, as you said once before, it is true that goats LOVE poison ivy. But goats also needs milking. Which transfer it onto ME! So far it's spread all over my body. My hands, my arms, my stomach, my chest, around my eyes, my MOUTH! (don't ask, I don't even know) And even my PRIVATES (What? How else does a guy correctly aim?)

I hate this. I'm going to cry. Then I'm going to take an Aveeno bath. I may or may not be back.

Hey. I have an idea. Would your MIL like to learn how to milk one of my lovely goats? Yessss. Excellent idea.

Blackbird! oh no!!!! dang.. its sounds like you have it systematically... have you (or someone near you) been burning the poison ivy?!?!? yikes! you can also get the transfer from your cloths. for instance if you pulled your shirt off over your head and it rubbed against your face. ugh!

after your bath see if you can take some benedryl which will knock it back.

but if its that bad you might need to go to the dr for steroids. dont let them give you a shot WHICH WILL NOT WORK. you need the prednisone dose that starts with 10 5mg pills for the first day, 9 for the next.. etc etc..

i've been thru that, brother, and it sucks.

for future reference... use Dawn dishwashing liquid soap and wash up to your elbows.

sorry!!!
:-(
and plz come back - we need you
;-)

and i'll send her right over to help you milk! ha!

Some idiot buffoon is hogging the bathroom. Having a speck of dirt on his body is far more important than crawling with poison ivy (says my brother).

I used to get poison ivy regularly and it was just as terrible, but the past two years I've been careful.

Last time I used a medicated cream that made me break out, not with poison ivy but with a different rash, as a side affect. What good is that?

I've been dutifully keeping medications and that sort of thing out of my body for over a year (aside from getting lake itch earlier this summer, then I was asking for ANYTHING, it was much worse than this) but I might resort to the benadryll. I couldn't sleep for a couple hours last night. Maybe tonight I'll have a liable excuse to have some wine.

oh blackbird, that is so awful.

wine might be an excellent idea. I had a friend who had a serious case this summer and the drs gave her cotton gloves to wear so she didn't spread it as easily.

be careful!

So what are we drinking?

Lala has her brandy, BB his wine (we won't even point out that he is underage and we may be contributing to his delinquency :/) You have your te-kill-ya......i was going to run some errands but Hubby is late with the car, I may just need to rustle up a beverage instead.
Anybody have any ideas?

lye soap is really your friend. it will help draw out the oozing which makes it heal faster. if it's really bad, bleach works too, but it burns like a mother!

topically, i use Ivarest cream if i really need to. i have heard that Zanfel is the best treatment ever, but it's so pricey i've not tried it. it's supposed to work in one application, which, at $30 a bottle, it better.

I've been using my homemade goat milk & lye soap, helped a little.

That, my friends, was one of the most amazing baths ever. WHY don't I take baths more often??? I feel like I can now take on the world. Screw the wine.

Also on a higher note, my hair is also looking particularly amazing and sexy.
