well. a sad start to the day. we lost one of Miss Ducks' Surprise Ducklings.. he was poorly yesterday and we found him this morning. we think he got into something bad or.. yesterday morning he took a pretty bad tumble in the morning hen house stampede.

but a cool and beautiful morning. got things going already - will be in the kitchen for most of the day:

new supplies and mold for cheese - check!
plums - check!
peaches - check!
maters - check!
tomatillos - check!

dang.. i hope i have enough jars! let the canning begin!!!

AND

i get to cut the cheese......curds... again today! whooot!

* turns around and yells *

me: hey honey! guess what i'm going to do today?
he (wearily, from the background): cut the cheese?
me: i'm gonna cut the cheese (laughs hysterically)

I know I swore I wasn't going to can stuff, but darned if I haven't been canning and now need more jars and lids

stupid "free" salsa i gonna cost me $40! AND i had to go to walmart!

so i'm not satisfied with how it turned out. i did the right proportions but ended up with 2 extra pints then i was supposed to get!

so i'm foregoing the water bath and going right to pressure canning!

(unless someone has a better idea???)
