good for you honey!!! yay!!!!! i love tha quote she used.i'll pop by your site later this afternoon. its starting to get hot out there and i need to get a few things done.

didya see the "femivore" post over on byc? only saw that it started by havent looked at it again

for my part this mornings breakfast:

* egg, salsa, and goat cheese omlette: all from the yard
* bread that i made, butter that i shoot in a jar
* ok the coffee i didnt grow, roast or grind but i'm having a goat-puccino compliments of Nibbles

now i gotta scoot. the neighbors said i could come and take up their bad corn that didnt make it for the pigs.

Free has challenged me with her $0.42/day pig feed cost! whooot! so i'm headed over for some no-charge corn.

happy sunday everyone!

So what's wrong with your salsa? I made some last year and thought it was great, so maybe I can help? Those recipes always make more than they suggest.

Re-read what you wrote about your butter :D

It's hoooooooooot again :tongue

We built our goat barn yesterday - it's 6x12 and snazzy. I'll post pics later today or tomorrow.

Wow, I inspired you???? That made my day!

I saw your post about salsa just now...sorry....I would've suggested that it is high time you come over to the dark side and ferment the darn stuff. You don't need special jars, you can use any old thing, even gallon jars and crocks from non-working crockpots! And it is super yummy!

I've been watching my tomato garden closely. Just started seeing the slightest hint of orange in there, but those ones are all munched in half by some critter, probably the groundhog. I tossed the other half out to the goats. Might as well get milk from those 'maters..... ;)

hey ladies!

first - holy cow... i thought the neighbors had a few measly stalks of corn..but its like 4 rows 20 ft long! i'll be out there a while for sure. and WOW! they are in the midst of a family crisis so they cant deal with it.. i'm helping them out as i can with other stuff. but i dont think she'll let me pick up the kids after i told her i "hoped i got the right ones."

hee hee hee

so the salsa tasted good.. but it just made so much more than it said. i am/was afraid that it watered down the acid?? so i was supposed to get 6 pints but i got more than 8!!!

by the time i got everyone milked and in the house it had already sealed from the water bath. so i just left it and put the extra in the fridge. actually its pretty good.

they just pound in the "do the correct measurements" so much that i didnt want to mess it up.

and then in the middle of it i ran out of jars! and then that demon-possessed walmart makes you buys stuff you dont need... aaaghgh so $40 later.. and i almost forgot the jars!

anyway..thats what happened.

Free - silly girl.. you always inspire me!

Javamama - lemme know what you think - did you have way more than you thought??? and wow yes its getting hot out there!

and *snort* i mean butter i SHOOK in a jar. i just got shootin' on my mind. actually i have a pretty wild tale to tell but i dont want the game warden to show up and haul SOMEONE off. i'll think on it before i make it public. hum....

Wow, those past few pages took me time to read. Wheeww!! Just trying to catch up. I went to the crazy side for a few days. Spent the week cooking and cleaning for about 60 people I had over yesterday.

Sometimes I wonder what possesses me to do such things. :he

Congrats on the tomatoes salsa, corn, cheese and all of your other win falls.

have a great day,

gina

I always, always end up with more pints than the recipes state, and I'm pretty anal about measurements. If in doubt, I add some citric acid to each jar for extra assurance about the acidity. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Just catching up. You been busy. I have too and didn't have enough time to keep up with your busy-ness.
I love summer and all the crops coming in, but then they all need to be processed at the same time. It is hard to keep up with it all. And the goats still demand their smooches and treats :p

I am not very carefull with measurements, unless I make something for the first time. I know my grandma didn't use measuring cups or spoons and her stuff came out good.
