So at the farmers market today ....

Grocery sack full of sweet banana peppers $5.00 - going to chop up most and dehydrate them into pepper flakes to cut the heat of hubby's habenaros. :p

Bushel box full of baby zucchini and yellow baby squash $10.00 - to be sliced blanched and frozen

4 BIG zucchini $2.00 - 1 for dinner later this week baked and stuffed 3 grated and frozen.

6 nice big yellow onions $2.00

box of okra $2.00 - added to today's harvest here and already turned into hot pickled okra. :drool

2 nice big cucumbers $1.00

So now you know OFG :D!

lol ok the "sell a kidney for my dog" was an exaggeration not well presented via typing instead of speaking. I have made my share of car payments for my veterinarian though, I am sure LOL

I had a great jalapeno pepper bush - 2 of them actually. More peppers than I could keep up with but they weren't very hot. Reckon that is just the type of pepper I had or is there something you can do to make them hotter?

Someone told me the longer the peppers stay on the plant the hotter they get. I have some that have even turned red. This may explain why my banana peppers are hot. I really just don't use them.

AL, I have always had that happen with my jalapenos - some are hot, some are not - sometimes from the same plant! It doesn't seem to make a difference how long I left them on the plant. I had some turn red that were totally mild so :hu It's a surprise with each pepper.

OFG? Hands okay now? :) I made the hot hands mistake once and even managed to heat up other areas that I don't care to mention.......NOT something I would recommend. :/

Are you making hot pepper butter? We made up quite a bit from peppers we purchased and it came out lovely.

we always joke that my dad's orthopedic surgeon, who is a good friend, remodeled his whole house on our dime. i would bet it's not far from the truth!

sorry about your pepper hands, OFG. my niece (who turns 1 on Tuesday) rubbed a lemon in her eye at dinner tonight. she loves sucking on them, but she was sleepy and rubbed her eyes with the lemon still in her hand. you can imagine how ridiculous we all looked running through the restaurant trying to get milk to pour on her after the water didn't work. poor thing.

at least everyone else there got a good laugh!
