Golly. I can't even read any of this without my eyes watering! Let's talk about chocolate and pie some more.

OK,
So I have been craving some good rich German pastry with lots of cream. and of course we don't have any in the house.
Last night SO goes: we are almost out of milk for coffee tomorrow. I go: But we have whipping cream, we can use that. SO: but what is the date, it is probably bad by now. Me: Cream lasts longer than milk. SO I had to toss the last one, because it had a big glob on top...Me interrupting: it is whipping cream, it is supposed to have heavy cream on top. OK, you bring out the mixer and I'll make up some cream. SO: the big mixer? you want me to bring out the big mixer? I walk away. He brings out the mixer (that I am usually not allowed to use) I pour the whipping cream into the stainless steel bowl, including the big glob on the top, which requires scraping out with a spatula. He askes: are you going to add vanilla and sugar and ..I cut him off, saying: just let me do my thing, I HAVE done this before!
I added some home made vanilla extract and some Ghiradelly sweetened baking chocolate and after a little while I called everyone to desert. YUMMY, it was pretty close to being mousse.

Good rich full on creamy chocolate whipped cream served in wine glasses :) :drool :love It could only have been improved with some sort of fresh berry on top ;)

Oh my.

My SIL is a full-blood German, she was telling me about all the sorts of desserts they have over there, and wowzers, I wish I had written some of them down. That'd put a few pounds on me. :p

Her grandparents spoke German daily at home, her grandpa was actually in a translator in WWII, imagine, fighting against your own countrymen for some unspoken 'duty' that is 'required'. Yeesh.

I made Lala's chocolate cake again. Didn't think of making chocolate whipped cream to go with. That might have been too much :th

Sigh, I have to go see what Fran and Janice are quacking at. Be back later.

lI have made my share of car payments for my veterinarian though, I am sure LOL
we always joke that my dad's orthopedic surgeon, who is a good friend, remodeled his whole house on our dime. i would bet it's not far from the truth!

sorry about your pepper hands, OFG. my niece (who turns 1 on Tuesday) rubbed a lemon in her eye at dinner tonight. she loves sucking on them, but she was sleepy and rubbed her eyes with the lemon still in her hand. you can imagine how ridiculous we all looked running through the restaurant trying to get milk to pour on her after the water didn't work. poor thing.

at least everyone else there got a good laugh!
Good grief biblio - can't I let you out in public? But on a serious note - is she ok now?

anydang way - what a day yesterday. but its COOL here now! whoooot and it rained... ah...rain..... we get pretty dry here in sept so this is a welcome relief

Bee - thanks! finally.. and i mean FINALLY my hands cooled down but yesterday when i was doing the dishes the hot water brought it on again. and yes i was very cautious not to touch anything, anywhere. yikes! i finally got some gloves. i have a bunch more peppers to work on so now i'm ready!

FD - i've got some cream in the fridge that is so rich you can stand a spoon in it.. whoot! fixin' to shake it up now for butter.

so today is an inside day and wow do i have a lot of pears. we started taking them off the tree and we have ... like TONS... as in bazillions of them. i got a bucket i'm taking into town for the lady at the bulk food place.

happy rainy monday!

2 POUNDS??? Coooool... :drool

And to give you fair warning, metal can soak up the heat from those peppers too... When I was a youngun, I grabbed a washed, clean spoon that dad had used on his pepper sauce and OW! I just wanted some cereal and milk and got a blistered tongue.

You know, there is something extremely NOT funny about a 1 year old being hurt and people laughing
oh, no one was laughing about her hurting. mostly laughing at my dad. i mean, you can imagine how funny a very large, very gruff man looks running around a restaurant like a chicken with it's head cut off, calling for milk in a squeaky voice. my father is about as solid as they come. his favorite saying when we were growing up was "it's too far from your heart to kill you," but the moment that child cries even the tiniest bit he goes all to pieces. she's got him wrapped around every single finger and toe.

yeah, she's fine. i think it was the shock more than anything that really upset her. she wasn't expecting something so yummy to hurt! we flushed her eyes with the milk (which she didn't really appreciate) and then she was fine. well, she continued to pout for about an hour because everyone was fussing over her. she's very smart and quickly figured out that this was worth lots of snuggles if she played it right. little stinker.
