My neighbor, daycare lady, asked me a few days ago if I was going to "make the babies lose their virginity....they're just babies!" So yesterday I called her over to the fence. I pointed at Peach. Peach, wagging her tail in the buck's face, making goo-goo eyes at him. I pointed and waved my hand (like her tail) and said, "Pick me! Pick me!" She got the point. No one was going to be bred against their will.

Ever talk to a vegan about dairy and eggs? Yikes. People who have never been around goats or chickens, that is for sure!

ohmigosh. as i said.. Nibbles nearly pushed us down trying to get to her man. sheesh!

i think your neighbor might be part of the "enslaved animals" crowd... golly. i can understand being removed from your food... but removed entirely from nature?? wow. goat virginity? seriously? wow.

the local bee club sent around a notice this summer to tell folks not to let anyone on your property especially if they say they are there to "inspect the hives"... apparently some wackos from the local animal rights group were doing this to get access to people's hives - so they could set the hives on fire. some nonsense about how the bees were enslaved. can you imagine?

btw, not an invitation to discuss certain wacko animal rights groups...just sayin this is why we got dogs and a gate. i'd like to see one of them try and snuggle OD.

since i'm "goat free" for a while i'm gonna sleep in tomorrow. and then we're gonna find something to do OFF FARM. at nite. like real people.

we just cant think of anything to do.
;-)

but i think that county fair has the "combine derby" tomorrow nite - we could get more fried cheese! whooot!

Oh, my neighbor is not the vegan, the conversation with her just reminded me of conversations with vegans in the past. How I am enslaving my animals and forcing them to breed against their wills. Hah! But my neighbor, although she is sweet in many ways and tolerates...and enjoys....my animals, she is a typical naive American about things farmy.

Yikes, the bees are enslaved so we're gonna BURN THEM ALIVE????? These people's brains are obviously starved for some nutritious saturated fat....like bacon!

And, what??? You both get to be off-farm at the same time??? Woo-hoo!!! Have some fried dough for me, with a little salt. Mmmm, that would go good with fried cheese! Wish they fried in lard, though, or tallow. Remember the old McD's fries? Fried in tallow? Are you old enough to remember?

So glad we have a privacy fence now.
Enjoy that fair food, mmmm. I know it was total crap, but my favorite thing this year was the giant tenderloin sandwich. Didn't hurt that it fed me and hubby! I was going to get an elephant ear, but they were more the size of sow's ears this year :( Sorry not paying 5 bucks for a paper plate sized piece of fried dough. I remember when they used to be the size of 3 paper plates!

hee hee hee we thought about going back to the fair today but there is another fall festival starting on the 20th and we figured we'd get more junk food there. ha!

so... we've already had an action packed day. we stopped by our farm stand pal's place and got a truckload of stuff. most of it is more than 2 weeks old so it will go to the compost but i got a buncha punkins i'm gonna throw at the pigs! whoooot!

then while we were driving i was talking about everything we are gonna do - planning our weekend and The Big Man said, um.. we have to go back and get Nibbles sometime.

Nibbles? who's Nibbles? oh wait the goat! talk about out of site out of mind! wow....

we laughed about imagining her sitting outside the breeders barn with her sad little backpack when all the other kids had already been picked up. ha! oh well. good think the hubby looks out for her!

as far as my big goatless sleep in. ha. didnt work at all. the dogs barked all nite, the geese screamed, the motion detector light kept coming on... not that there was anything.. it was just raining i think. and then the younger cats thought i should hurry up and GET UP. apparently they were starving. yeah, Pep, we see a rib showing all right..ha!

and then it finally rained all morning.

so i gotta go and get the goat house shoveled out. i guess the goat is coming back.. not that i would have remembered to go and get her! ha!

happy friday!!!!!!

Ofg. I had a dream about you last nite. You and Big Man drove to Calif, and dropped by to say howdy. You were petite and thin, with below shoulder length blondish hair. I don't remember what BMan looked like. We had a nice time, touring the vineyard, and you telling me about goats. I was embarrased in front of you, being shy and all, cus I was not up to speed on the farming life. I complained about how dry it is in CA for most of the year, and you told me to get over it - the goats will still like it here, even in the dried weeds.

Funny I used to dream about work all the time, and now its about you all! Love ya!

Hi OFG

that kind of sucks that you get woken up when you are hoping to get a good long sleep.

I can relate because this was my wake up at 3:30 am work week, and this am,....cat woke me up at 5 by patting my cheek with her paw. A gentle way to wake, but soooo disappointing.

wish you all could come over for coffee!

hey lala! its the whiskers up the nose and the litterbox paws IN my mouth that gets me... dang. we tried shutting the door once. but then it was nonstop crying, catterwalling, and them trying to dig UNDER the door. when we heard the sounds of the battering ram we figured we should just give up and let them cats back in. sheesh!

murphysranch - i LOVE that you are dreaming about me! yay! i'm sure i loved your place and i would have ooohed and aaahed over it all. and i woulda brought my drinkin' arm and my fat pants and we'd have really hoopdee-doo'd it
:)

but i'm not blonde! you are not the first to think that, tho - ha!

actually i'm a sturdy brunette with longer hair and glasses. i woulda hopped out of the truck in below-knee shorts (rolled up on the waist) and a plain, but dirty tshirt that had some kinda stain on it...and my 'life is good' hat. and i woulda run up and hugged you!
:)

unfortunately due to the terms of my witness protection agreement, i cant post any pix of myself.

just kiddin. or AM i?
;-)

anybody else get a frost this morning? we had our first one.

The Big Man went to go and get Nibbles. apparently i'm not going b/c i wouldnt have remembered her anyway. sheesh!

i'm gonna go and throw my pumpkins at the pigs.

happy saturday everyone!!!!!
