One more thing, thank you soooooo much for posting that hog butchering thread. I read and re-read that thread/blog post before and then again after the deed was done. It really helped me understand what the butcher was doing. I was sad to see him quiver etc. but then remembered that BR said that is normal...not meaning that he suffered in any way.
The guys shot him then stuck him before he knew what was coming.
I also had no idea that you had to skin him with knives. I thought they were just like deer.
Anyway, thank you so much for posting such great info on butchering hogs.
On a side note, he was the last butchered animal of the day and he was the biggest! Bigger than a steer they had done earlier.
They said he looked very healthy too; a nice fat hog free of chemical de wormers, antibiotics etc. I'm proud!!
