For the record, I was chilly ALL THE TIME lately and realized that I had not put on my ten pounds of insulation for the winter. So I did. I'm toasty now. I am fortunate to be able to go up and down by 10 lbs and it barely shows (when I am dressed! :p ) so here is how I made my donuts. I should cross-post in the recipe section but.....I mixed the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients before I noticed that my chosen recipe was for a donut maker thingy, and I needed to roll these puppies out, sheesh! So I adjusted and added until it would roll, so I am guessing at the following amounts:

3.5-4 c flour (I used freshly ground soft white wheat berries)
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/2 c honey (I'd use more next time, maybe, or not, they were good but not real sweet, which I tend to like but most people might not)
2 eggs
1 Tbsp softened butter
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 - 3/4 c milk, kefir, yogurt, buttermilk, etc. to make a firm dough that can be rolled out.

I mixed the wet in one bowl, the dry in another, combined them when the fat (tallow!) was hot. I patted it out quickly on a floured surface and cut it into sticks (a dozen) with a pizza cutter, carefully dropped six of them into the hot fat (big cast iron fry pan with a screen splatter guard on top.) Turn them after a minute....these are better the browner they get, imo.

Serve hot with a dusting of cinnamon sugar, if desired, and hot tea or milk.
Oh shoot!! For some reason I was thinking you had made GF donuts :hit
I got excited for no reason...

*I* am getting a loaf of fresh ground wheat, sour doughed bread. A nearby shop gets fresh wheat and grinds their own daily.

I want a grilled cheese sooo badly. With tomato soup.

My absolute favorite lunch. I'd live on them if I lived alone. Tomato soup made with cream and a spoon full of butter right in the middle when the soup is hot, sprinkled with pepper and yummy buttery grilled cheese sandwich. OMG, I haven't had breakfast yet and I'm already wanting grilled cheese. :drool :th

I love tomato soup too but I found a good roasted red pepper tomato soup recently and ooooooo.....just wish I could have a grilled cheese to go with it. Dang gluten. :rant

The only donuts I like are the custard filled chocolate frosted ones..... :drool

I used the recipe posted earlier, but cut it in half. We can't be little piggies, now can we?

In the old fryer (didn't want to mess with the new one, I wanted donuts NOW!)
