WOW what a day! what a turn around! wow oh wow!

after a less than ideal December this "new year starts on Dec 27th" really has worked out. the blessings have been pouring so much so that we cant believe it.

first, the whole free firewood thing worked our really really well. we got a huge whack of wood - free free free!

then, the good neighbors took us out to dinner last nite - on their dime! free dinner!??! free dinner!?!? NO ONE buys us free dinner! so we were thrilled and then.. hold on to your hats... we went to ice cream! the mom had a gift card! so we got free ice cream!!!

and, of course, their kids were a joy to be around. the oldest gal, 17, didnt look at her phone ONCE at the table! and SHE TALKED! to US! so we had a great nite and everyone was very happy.

but then today we had an ordeal..which turned into a monumental blessing!

the thing is... i just gotta tell you about this blessing we got. BUT it involves other people who've had a very very hard time. i dont want to add more to their negative publicity, or spread gossip, so i'm gonna kinda dance around the details, if thats ok with you.

these folks suffered a huge, life changing blow they didnt deserve. and were wrongly held up to scorn. somehow, of course, we were witness to the whole thing earlier this year... so it was fitting we saw the end of it too.

so these folks had a little bit of something that we needed. and you know when you (us) have hard times a little bit of something is huge. we were afraid we wouldnt get it because of their situation.

so we loaded up in the truck and went on down to a nearby community to see if we could talk to these folks and work something out.

fortunately we caught up with them. but i mean to tell you -- they were broken by their ill fortune. the man had tears in his eyes when he gave us the long and short of it. we were moved by hearing the tale of woe and hugged him and told him that not everyone believed the rumors and lies. we said we were on their side, even if we couldnt do anything but stand there and hear him.

so to our relief we got our little bit of something that we needed - a huge huge huge relief. and not only that... the man went back in and got us some other things. things we need. things we REALLY need.

he loaded us up. we couldnt believe it. i still cant believe it.

it was so much that literally we dont have room enough to contain it. i mean to tell you the floodgates of heaven opened and poured out such a blessing that we ended up taking a net breaking, boat sinking amount over to Good Neighbors.

so thats the story. i'm in shock. i'm in awe. i've been shocked and awed by not only the goodness that is pouring out on us.. but how some things work out in ways that cant be easily explained. and how sometimes you have no idea why things happen when they do.. but then it all comes together in a tidy little package. our a big truckload.

anyway - i gotta go and do some chores. but wow!

ps if any of you have it in your hearts, say a little prayer for our pal, K, who has so richly blessed us.

:)

How the weather today? We had a nice thick coating of ice on everything, but the chicken's water didn't freeze today!!! One less thing to mess with.

The hens enjoyed the leftover donuts.

you said it, FD!

we are soooooooooooooo excited. the evil snow of doom is MELTING! what a relief!

all the hens ran directly over to the one bare earth patch. i think they stayed there most of the day and one little hen couldnt figure out how to get back across the remaining snow.

by tomorrow it will be GONE!

Kai loved it - she was playing in the run off all day and got a muddy. and she loved/hated the shovel and kept woofing at it.

so we were funnin' it up over on the blog today remembering Debbie's babies last year:

most of you probably remember all the brouhaha... just some laughs if you need 'em

:)
ps FarmerJamie.. you had leftover donuts? Brother, you aint tryin' hard enough!

I finally found a buckling on CL that is not too expensive and not too far away, well sort of. I hope I can get him. It is still an hours drive away on not the best roads and we have more storms coming!!! And cold with dry ice ---- very scary driving conditions.
