OFG the weather here is back to normal. I was out in my tee shirt and jeans this morning cleaning the chicken coop (aka "Sanford and Son's coop" :p or rather "tent city" at the moment) Not trying to rub it in, just trying to lure you over here for a visit. ;)

Today's News:

since the weather gal announced that this incessant cold-n-snow will in fact cease on THURSDAY i've got a little hope and a little hop right in my step! i sprung from bed this morning and looked weather-ward to see if there was any changes heralding thursday's warm... and.. and... nope. it was snowing AGAIN. for heavens sakes.

but

i have achieved many of my action items today:

1. did not fall in a heap in this latest round of snow: CHECK
2. put the last kettle of lard a-cookin' : CHECK
3. renewed my sub to Small Farmers Journal: CHECK
4. showered, got dress, and put on my shoes: CHECK - and flylady would be so happy! i knew where my laundry was AND i cleaned the sink
CHECK and double CHECK!
5. made cookies! yum... wait the next batch is ready.....timer going off..
6. got out The Big Knife and sliced up the last ham bound for the freezer. honestly it was a work of art... absolutely beautiful. just like this:

having a 20 pound ham is silly since there is just the two of us ... so we we saved the butcher fees and just took it whole after they cured and smoked it... then cut it into manageable chunks (well, slices) that we can fry up in a jiffy for supper. i also have the hocks and ends for soup.. and a couple smaller roasts that are crock pot sized for when i need a kitchen free day.

so now i'm takin' a fist full o' cookies and headed for the couch to watch all my shows online!

grade for today: B+

here's hopin' that thursday and the warmer weather will be here soon!

My D1 is married to an Orange County left coast boy. It took years before he traded in his flowery shirts, board shorts and flip flops for a pair of jeans and a flannel.

As a chronic mid-westerner I must say - it DOES take some getting used to!
