We've got wind gusts at 30-40mph....I'd go outside but I don't know where I'd end up

Our snow froze solid into ice chunks and it is below well below 32 this morning although not down in Portland. Sometimes up here on our mountain we get a cold pocket. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....guess it was our "turn".
But this is cold for February for us. I'm glad you guys are enjoying a nice warm day for a change! I wanna see photos of the sunburned knees!

we got our Vita back! she's out there right now giving "behave yourself looks" to Debbie and Nibbles! she's back! she's back! our big ol' white sanaan goat is BACK!

and i'm fixin to to squeeze her right now! milk! glorious (free) MILK!!!!

i'm so excited! she was so happy to see my hubby (who she has a big crush on) that she ran right up to him and started telling him all about her winter and how the service there (at the breeders) was SO BAD and could we take her home RIGHT NOW!

so we did.

and she's home!

but

she had a very hard birth. to one enormous buckling. the breeder said the baby was as big as 2 normal kids!

so we are taking it easy with her and are going to work to get her back to proper conditioning.

and i'm hoping that with her smelling all hormonal and such...she might just throw Debbie into labor soon. the breeder said la manchas are usually early so.... we could have kids on the ground soon! but hopefully not tonite - the 4H neighbor kid has her winter formal and i dont want to have her out there pullin' kids in her nice dress and fancy updo
;-)

i'm gonna go squeeze my goat now. whooooot!

:)

here are two unexpected things:

1. we have some weird storm coming to us today - ice/snow/rain mix...for heavens sakes... drat! yesterday was so sunny!

2. holy bellowing goat, batman!

um... so i guess it was after Vita left last year that the Good Neighbors moved their fencing so their goats and cows are just 'right there' next to our goat/hen yard....

Vita stood inside the goat house and SCREAMED her head off all nite at the neighbor's huge buck. who screamed back.

the.
whole
night.

they are at it again now.

i'm really not sure what to do, if anything, about the yelling goats. hum.

the good news is that with all the chaos, Nibbles and Debbie are no longer trying to kill each other.

so i've got a screaming goat and we might not even go to church. its gonna be a weird sunday. i can just tell right now.

sheesh!

I saw that weather report this morning and groaned for you. Sure has been a freaky couple of years. I guess the shorts are going back in the drawer?

Yelling goats......well at least if it is the neighbors goat they can't complain about the noise!

May your goats cross their legs until the latest storm passes and you can run for the neighbor kid in your shorts after all.
