But now I remember a similar altercation with someone ahead of us in line at our Sam's club a few months ago that I didn't quite get at the time. The whole 'this card doesn't match' - even though husband and wife were both standing there. They let them off with a warning :/

i totally would have understood if they said "you know next time you'll need to ... blah blah blah" but it was SO STUPID. i mean - if i would have handed them cash what would have been the big whoop?

and... if i remember you can take a guest in with you....so who cares who pays? and it was a biz account that i was listed on! for heavens sakes.

we ended up going to Giant Eagle, used our 7% discount for groceries, and drove up our gas perks to a new level. and got cat food.

and the checker was nice AND helpful AND polite....and we used his Giant Eagle card and my credit card.

I was thinking about what if you had paid in cash too?...I just can't wrap my head around it now - we just got home from the orthodontist. Who accepts all forms of payment and it doesn't matter who's on the card

I don't find Sam's as great as it used to be either. Especially when I can see Giant Eagle from my back yard. It's true, I can in the winter It wasn't there when we bought our place.

Hey did you see the no-knead cinnamon roll recipe on the Mennonite Girls' site? Think I'm going to try it tomorrow.

Wow! I don't blame you. I guess it matters which Sam's Club store you're in, or maybe which line you're in? Last weekend I shopped at Sam's with my DIL. She's not a member. We checked-out using my membership card and her credit card. Nobody questioned it.

In this economy your Sam's can afford to piss people off and drive them away? Wow. They must be doing really well!



The Sam's here is actually quite nice. I had one problem about 21 years ago with 1 guy and demanded to see the manager and then he had to listen to hormonally deranged pregnant woman flip out while holding a screaming toddler. Since he kissed my feet and the guy was actually fired (I was not the only one who complained apparently) I have kept my membership.

Costco on the other hand, while it has nice people, never really saved me much on the money front. I was only getting 2 or 3 things and it is a 45 minute round trip.
