Ohio doesn't really have a normal. Sometimes it's humid, sometimes it's not. :hu

The kids and I finally got the rest of the garden tilled, 3 long rows of peas, 3 rows of potatoes, and 3 rows of onions planted. We sweated so much I think I lost 5lbs.

Is Ohio normally humid?
yep in the summer. i HATE it. i lived in low humidity for so long i forgot how miserable it is to be swampy. actually the problem is that it never cools off at night.

right now its 90* (by our thermometer) and 87% humidity and i'm about to die.

but i'm out there bustin it. we have to move the creepy meats out of the hen house which has become an oven. earlier today i was hauling poop... there's no rest i guess. man!

but

i'm happy to report that the vet visit for the big dogs went reasonably well. we had to wait 45 mins which really steamed me - and is the reason we are just gonna drive the hour up to our good vet. grrrr... but no one (dogs) embarrassed me so i give it a solid "B."

of course, we had the obligatory laugh about the guy carrying a small dog into the office. you know - that Ti craps bigger than that dog? oh geez... it gets us every time. "hey buddy! why dontcha get yourself a man-sized dog?" ha ha ha ha ha ha

wow what i would pay for a rootbeer float right now..... our little ice cream place in town isnt opened. yet. ugh!

ok back at it.

OK, do I really need to say this? Make some vanilla goat's milk ice cream and toss a scoopful into some purchased (or homemade) root beer! Sheesh!

Thanks! It's been a swamp for so long, we did all of that in only a couple of hours the other night after work. We worked until dusk, which sucks a little for the kids as thier bed time on school nights is usually 9pm. We got in at 8:40 and I had them shower and then they got to eat some ice cream. It was almost 10pm before they made it to bed, but schools almost out and they do great so I wasn't worried.

Glad the vet visit was uneventful other than having to wait. We laugh like that as well, we have a 75lb husky/german shephard mix and I have a friend with a teacup yorkie. Heck, my meat rabbits are bigger than her dog, I even have a 15lb cat. :D

ah .... so it is like Florida in the summer time. I hate humidity. I am a bad Floridian. I like to feel the air move when I breathe.

I was just gonna say the same thing. OFG makes pudding and cheese, but not ice cream? WHAT?

Ohio's "normal" is abnormal. That's why we can have a 70 April day and drop to freezing and get 4 inches of snow that night. :D

well the score card for this morning:

creepy meats = not dead
pigz = not dead
number of rootbeer floats = 1 (from yesterday)

nope dont make ice cream - i'm holding out for a cow! we dont usually have rootbeer.... and i didnt want to drive anywhere. it still costs about $6 to drive down to our town for anything. but then i had to mail something (i dunno what happened with our mail guy yesterday....) so i had to drive there anywhere and secured the rootbeer. so i got my big glass and filled it with ice cream and was all ready....

...and the dogs came along and knocked the rootbeer on the ground! so of course it exploded when i tried to open it (who knew they were under so much pressure!) so it was more like half a float ....but it was still good!

we retrofitted the old meat house/duckhouse/brooder/whatever yesterday and got the first batch of meats out of the hen house. the trees over the hen yard that normally keep everything cooler havent even leafed out yet - so it was an oven in there.

our hastily slapped together project worked and all meats lived. we figured there was about a 50%-50% chance they'd be killed in the new meat house and almost guaranteed they would flop over dead if they stayed. so our gamble paid off.

of course the goats cant get enough of the new meat house and they are all over it. its the same freakin' thing thats been in their yard for 2 years but now that we've moved it 3 feet they are all interested. sheesh!

anyway

the heat was crippling yesterday and today promises more of the same. but then we might get a frost next weeks so - what are you gonna do, for heavens sakes.

and

blogger isnt working at all - am i the only one that can't access it? grrr...

but happy friday???
