Kai doesn't help you till? Pups are such great diggers, she was just chafing at the WASTE of her talents.

I'm so glad you finally got a nice day. We are still having RAIN and "unseasonably cold" weather. I swear the weather guy has been saying that all year.

I made a farmer cheese this morning and noticed that with the lemon juice, there is no WAY any whey is leftover. I'm pretty sure to make ricotta you have to have white whey.

There is a dude at Hubby's work selling goat milk quesa fresca for only 8 dollars a pound, homemade. Does that sound cheap? It did to me.

There is also someone selling goat milk locally for 9 dollars a gallon and that seems cheap to me, too. In this state it is legal to sell it for "agricultural use."

To me, for that cheap I'd keep my goat milk and quesa fresca, thank you very much.

It is a great deal for the customer but a lot of work and expense for the seller, unless they are making huge vats of cheese commercially. On the stove top in a stock pot....no way I'd sell a pound of cheese for $8! I'll keep it for that price, thank-you-very-much. Maybe chevre, since it is so easy and quick to make and doesn't require any standing over it or stirring or even being in the kitchen for more than a few minutes here and there, especially if you make it with milk right from the goat so it is already warm.

That is what I was thinking too, Free. Goats milk seems so precious I guess because my own work went into making it. When I see my son leave a bunch of milk in his cereal bowl now, I think of how many squirts with my sore hands that took to fill the bowl! I told him if he left all that next time he would need to do the next milking. :somad

He gave me a strange look.

I would pay $20 or more, plus s&h, for some good goats miik cheese. No one around here sells it, and there are no regular dairies either. :/

its a sunny sunday! you can't believe it! not a cloud in the sky! but ... heh heh heh... the humidity is here.

yesterday i fought with the tiller all day. today is going to be round two.... that is....

after we get back from the festive holiday bbq at the MIL's

i'm bringing a bottle of tequila and my worst.. i mean.. best attitude.

as i'm sitting here eating a breakfast of pork chops with a huge layer of fat and coffee with a lot of cream, i'm wondering if she's going to fix her new "famous" dessert - sugar free angel food cake with pineapple and sugar free cool whip. with diet soda.

good thing we have church first.

*OFG at the alter*

me: oh lord, please dont let me die from all them chemicals!
the pastor: hey! get away from that sacramental wine! there's no seconds!
me: really? what kind of place is this?
pastor, looking stern: and no you cant "get change" from the offering plate! get back to your seat!"*

anyway. i'm about to head out so we wont be late...but you know how that goes.

SD - oh yeah, Kai helps. in fact we call her "Digger!" but we dont want so much digging when i'm trying to plant. she thinks its the most boring thing on earth. why plant when you can run off with my seedlings?

and.. hee hee hee doesnt "making your own food" give you a totally different perspective on waste? you can imagine when i had to toss 3 gallons from the fridge fail

SS - heck for the right price, i'll fly out there and make cheese for ya! hee hee hee hee

happy sunny sunday everyone!!!

At our last house we had a dog "digging pit" which was where we threw the dog toys and put in a yard of sand. We taught them to "go dig" and pointed them there and "no dig" other spots.

I need to set that up here.....Murphy left a lot of potholes in the chicken yard! The chickens love them of course as little spots to sunbathe and dustbath. Sigh. No one but me seems to like the dirt nice and smooth.

But, OFG, didn't you tell the pastor it's for the "OFG Bail Fund"??? Surely, he'll let you get change for THAT!

;)

Good luck MIL's. My fave thing to do to my step mom is bring a really fattening dessert over and not tell her the ingredients til AFTER she eats it!!
