I went with DD to a Starbucks last week, we both placed our order and then the young lady asked if we wanted a free tall latte. We said: sure. They had made it for the prior customer, who said it wasn't what they wanted, so we got it for free. DD used to work for Starbucks, she says customers do crazy things, but they are always expected to be polite anyway!!!
So I bet those girls will get into trouble, if you write a letter to Starbucks. That was very rude of them!

Oh and don't mention ducks. I want some. I am working on SO ;) If they get some ducklings in at our feedstore, I am bringing some home and putting them under our broody hens. "honey, the girls need babies, it was the ducklings or more laying chickslets" :p

Starbucks will generally give you a cup of ice water for free - you could have gotten the coffee, asked for a cup of ice (hold the water, please), poured the coffee into the ice, handed the paper cup back, said "thank you" with a big ofg smile, and headed off on your merry way. :)
You do know who you're talking to, right?

Sounds like the time we were held over at an airport and decided to treat ourselves to those outrageously expensive "real fruit" smoothies. The line was LONG as there were storms and a lot of people were stuck. I asked the gal to leave the syrup out of mine. She was stymied and said she couldn't do it. I said (loudly, much to my husband's embarrassment....but I wanted the angry mob behind me to know exactly WHO was holding up the line!) that all she had to do was put ice and strawberries in the blender, just skip the syrup. She refused. I explained with some exasperation that I was not asking for something MORE expensive, rather, something LESS expensive. She countered that it would not be good. I assured her, still loudly and firmly, that I would like it and since I would be drinking it, I would decide as to whether or not it was good! She finally and reluctantly made it. Everyone was rolling their eyes by then.....in solidarity with me.

Kinda like your final trip to Costco or Sam's Club or whatever......

Yeh, that was definitely an idiot employee moment. They forgot the whipped cream on my friend's coffee and gave him a free coffee coupon. And they are always really nice to me when I go in. Usually I can get heavy cream breve and if I say one pump of syrup, I only get one pump. I did once have a girl lose it completely when I asked for "half the syrup" because it usually had three pumps. Someone else had to come over and say "is one pump okay?" and I said yes, and they made it. lol!

So complain and get a freebie. I've NEVER had an issue getting ice!!

I worked at Panera and one day the manager explained we couldn't sell "kids" hot chocolates. What all of us had been doing is to charge for a chocolate milk (6 oz) and make a normal coffee cup sized hot chocolate for a kid (the normal was one of those GIANT latte mugs). So... parents are forced to give their kids more sugar, or pay double? WTF? We all ignored that rule.

Come to think of it... I think I started the "kids" size... Cuz we had someone come in and get argued into a hot chocolate by a disgusting child and I was afraid it would get louder with more sugar. So I asked if they wanted a kid sized chocolate and she said "you have child sized?" and I said, "sure, I'll just charge you a chocolate milk and make it smaller".

then one of the adults told me how stupid it was was we "make" our own food and just buying it at the store was cheaper. they were sitting in front of a plate of "non food", were about 70pounds over weight, on medication for high cholesterol, high blood pressure and their only activity is changing the channel on the tv.
*sighs* I get that a lot and I don't even have a garden, just on shopping local only and getting raw milk and buying cows by the quarter from a mostly all grain fed ranch... "Wouldn't it be easier to just buy some chicken?" And, yeh, everyone looking at me weird is overweight and ill from their crappy diets. My step dad thinks it's great though.

He actually gave me two incredible compliments about it. He said that I have more integrity than anyone he knows because I put my finances behind my stated beliefs. And my ability to just be myself without trying to be the same or trying to be different has inspired him to be more comfortable with himself.

So carry on OFG!! You're inspiring people despite those morons.

yay! thanks Abi!!! i needed a little boost today.

:)
:)

so we had the shock of a life time today. we went over to the MIL's and as we were leaving she said "wait i have something for you"

of course we cringed....

but she bought us new dog beds!

remember when Kai The Destroyer was on a rampage and she obliterated one of the dog beds??? we told the MIL the story thinking it was an easy/non offensive/couldnt be controversial conversation piece.... and not only did she REMEMBER that it happened. she went and got Kai a new bed! we very nearly fell over and asked what we owed her for them.. and she said nothing.

so we drove away shocked and stunned but very glad. while it may be on of the signs of the apocalypse and we're all doomed - we're just taking it for what it was - a nice gesture.

so i'm giving the day a solid "A" - it would be an "A+" but our temp reads 97* right now and its a little hotsy totsy.

:)

ps and yeah i'm gonna say something about the "no ice for you!" sheesh!

Yay MIL!! Now the coming of the end will be signaled by my MIL buying us new dog beds. She thinks our dogs have ruined our lives, especially Kobi, the talker. See MIL and FIL showed up early for a visit one day. 2.5 huors early, before I had time to get Kobi to my mom's. (I don't normally give in to MIL's whims but Kobi IS loud and it's just easier....) but they showed up while DH was out and I was stuck. So MIL got barked at and backed me into a corner yelling at me about it. It was the one time I snapped at her and told her if she hadn't been more than 2 hours EARLIER than they said they'd be, the situation wouldn't even have occured. She's had more respect for me since then. But she still hate Kobi and thinks he's pure evil.
