Be careful with that reaper mam.

I nearly lost a finger (OK I just cut the tip of it) on my mandolin the other day!

Yikes! I can not imagine me swinging a big sharp blade like you have!!

ha! Abi i hadnt thought about using the scythe to snap beans! ha ha ha ha!

well i think we are done with most of our beans. for now. i have another group coming tho. yay beans!

so yesterday was a weird farm day:

1. debbie is definitely in heat. and obnoxious. she was bouncing around the other nite - bucking and spinning and kicking and bonking everyone on the head. so then she turns to ME like she's gonna bonk ME...... at the last second she stopped herself....and we stared each other down (i might have said "oh YEAH? take a swing muthasomethingorother and you'd better make it worth it!!")....and then she kind of sidled away like she wasnt doin' nothing... its gonna be a long fall for sure. we dont want to breed her until nov. thats a long long ways away.....sheesh!

the neighbor kid came over and trimmed everyone's hooves! yay! Dahlia/Dolly (Debbie's baby who i dont particularly like) even stood there quietly.... so Dolly get a B+. i might start to like her now. and she's figured out that i'll give her some grain if she runs into the stall, instead of away from me. bonus points. Nibbles acted like we were skinning her alive. F-

2. i'm on a jihad to clean out the garage. most of it is TBM's stupid stuff like logo give aways from companies he worked for 10 years ago. all of that went the in the trash. but as i was emptying the boxes i found a squirming nest!!! rats! mice! some kind of unacceptable rodent!!! so i started shrieking and ran with the box to the best place i could think of - the hen yard. i dumped the whole box out and called the clucks.... they did their job. well. quickly. with extreme prejudice. it was a massacre. i had to drink a whole bottle of wine last nite to block out the tiny little screams that i could still hear in my head.... the horror....the horror.... and i aint eatin' them eggs for a couple days for sure.

3. then when i was trying to wrangle all the hens into their coop... i couldnt figure out what i was seeing. The Mob are in the baby coop next to our big coop - there is a chicken wire wall between them. along the wall is a board to keep the draft off the babies.... and there was .....something wedged between the wire and the board..... it was a chick! oh golly and she was surely stuck. stuck stuck stuck. i was afraid i'd have to cut her loose but i gave a gentle tug...and she was free. TOTALLY discombobulated tho b/c she was upside down and on her back for who knows how long! poor little thing. i rubbed her vigorously, gave her a sip, gave her a snuggle...and then put her down... she toddled away like a drunk but she was ok when i checked her later.

barnyard = crazy.

that is all.

happy wednesday!!

Mice ---- ick! My new cat Max is proving to be quite the hunter. Yesterday my girls found something that looked like a kidney and entrails on my rug. :p. Then last night he brought dh a 1/2 live mouse. That did not go over very well.

Did I tell you I got a new machetti?(sp) I asked dh to pick one up last time he went to haves chain saw blades sharpened.
He says "I dont know what's worse the fact that you want one or the fact that I'm going to buy it."

Gotta luv garden tools. And my dh.

Have a great day.

I didn't know ducks would kill mice. I don't think mine would, too slow. But my chickens do!

that was quick thinkin'!

LOL Dear, you are reading too fast - she has CLUCKS there, and it does look like 'ducks' when you're zipping thru it. LOL

Anyway, I thought I was going to have to open a bottle of wine after reading about OFG's day! Now I'm too busy laughing at TanksHill's response, among others!
