I actually had the same buffet delivered to my hens over the weekend. Rio came to me dragging a 20ft length of 4" PVC pipe .. when he dropped it I saw just a tangle of movement. When I noticed what it was I put one end of the pipe over the chicken fence, raised my end and dumped the whole nest. Fortunately these were just "one bite" snacks so no screaming - I would be traumatized forever lol.

For the record, ducks will kill mice. My broody mama Abby Cadabby is an excellent mouser. She usually drowns them in her water bowl :sick

hee hee and yep i gots lots of DUCKS and CLucks!!!

i just scored at the farm market. i stopped and asked if they had canning tomatoes.. he said they had half a box - the sign still said $8. i asked if he'd take $3 and he said yes!!! so i have a good half box and mine to work on tonite.

we turned hot and swampy all of a sudden but thats ok. i'm turning on the AC after i get these done.

and i think i need cake. lots of cake.

Tanks you and me - we'd be a fearsome duo with our weaponry for sure.
;-)

Marianne - i think i need more booze. its been one of those long days and nothing has even happened.

altho this morning Sunny (who is going back to her home herd soon) totally bashed Nibbles - she almost knocked the goat house door off! and then Nibbles dramatically baaaaaaah-baaa- BAAAAAAAAH'd around while holding her hoof up. (we checked her she was fine and when we werent looking she walked on it just fine).

its going to be a long fall. i might take all these gals into the breeder early just to shut them up. grrrr......

I could go for a glass of wine. I was told by my Doc and my Aunt that a small glass of wine on occassion for medicinal purposes would not hurt me or baby girl.

Just wish I had wine in my house. :/

wow what a last couple of days.. there's too much to catch up on so we'll just fast forward to today

today thats gonna be 95* AGAIN and hotter than heck with the humidity. if we can make it to monday we all might live.

but the last of the MeatBalls arent - provided we can get out there before the thermometer actually melts.... we need to get them into those chickens into the fridge as soon as possible. they are HUGE...and heaven knows that fat meats cant take the heat.

today i took The Mob outside for the first time. this is our used to be 18 now there at 15 chicks that hatched one day at a time. there are some spectacular chicks! wow - beauties for sure. and they were terrified of The Great Wide Open. but now they are kinda pecking around.

i actually had to scoop them up in a bucket to get them outside. it worked.

the ducklings are a scream - they graduated to deeper water and have been divin' and splishin' and splashin' all around. momma duck took them to the lower goat yard yesterday. all but one. he screamed and screamed and screamed. i carried him around until i found the rest of the herd. it was pretty cute. they continue to be my milking buddies and all peep around and stop their little webbed feet until i give them little sips of milk.

the canning continues...i've gotten some great deals lately in addition to our own stuff. i'm still hoping for another flush of peppers but with my luck this 100*-ish is gonna cause THESE blooms to fall off also. grrr......

thats the word here.

oh...and we have another cat. The Big Man fished her out of a dumpster - so she was free...except for the $135 she's already cost. the Not So Great Vet and i squared off over how old she is. i said 4 to 6 months, he said "under a year" and i'm not sure why he wanted to quibble over that other than he didnt cotton to well to my amateur assessment.

anyway, the only reason why we took her to that guy was because we had to immediately test her for all the cat diseases lest she be toxic to our incredibly Insane Cat Posse... and couldnt get into our Very Good Vet yesterday on such short notice. she passed with flying colors, was christened, and given a lot of painful shots for which she repaid me by pooping all over me and the carrier on the way home.

i'm somewhere between "for the love of pete....." and "whats one more?" however she will join the outside Barncat Department and will intern under Shine King of Barncats. i expect her to Exceed or Meet Expectations in what i'm sure will be a long and glorious rat-catching career here on the farm. we welcome Scruff to our organization and will be getting a nameplate made for her cubicle.

:)

So that's what, like 42 cats now? Give or take a few :D Well, bless your Big Man for rescuing her.

I may as well pull my worthless pepper plants. I was just out there and the blossoms ARE falling off :barnie I never got one bell pepper this year and I put out 3 types of plants. :somad And the ducks started molting so I looks like a pillow fight happened.

awww :love

I would have a lotta cats if I had land >.>

*laughs*

OFG, I woke up to 55* weather! Bright, sunny, chilly. It was so cold last night, I had to close my window and get a blanket! I slept like a baby. Well, a drugged sleeping baby. I think real babies are awake screaming a lot. Scratch that: I slept really well!!! hahahaha!

Woke up at 830 (usually up by 10 - I work til 10 pm), wide awake, lots of energy. Eating breakfast while laundry is going. Then, off to do ALL my chores before Auntie gets here. We're gonna process ducks :D
