i have to say - it was one of the great moments of my life.

of course, everyone was HORRIFIED that i 'burned my bridges' by telling the boss i wasnt staying the week - and well she might have gotten a few other choice words when i was asked to 'do one more project' - but i just laughed and said i didnt need a reference for the chickens, they'd take me as i was!

it took a while for the 'corporate-ness' to wear off. i was still doing performance metrics with color coded charts for awhile. but i got over it. now i'm down to 'action items' and 'objectives' for the day. but i dont write them down. ok i write them down but i dont do powerpoint slides anymore.

;-)

So, are you saying you had the chickens on a performance based bonus system? - How on earth would you appraise the performance of the pigs?

Oh, that sounds soooo much better

I'm with FC, you should be writing! There are so many folks here who are talented with words. Gives me the biggest kick.

Well ya'll, I'm getting kicked out early by the honcho, so I'll sees you tomorrow! Stay warm!

And here we sit with my hubby poised and ready to flash his finger as well.

The problem is we really do not yet have a ready place to land and if he can only hang on just a little longer .....

Such an inspiring tale. I hope we can follow you soon.

by the poundage, baby, by the poundage...

ME (smiling to pigs, wearing my 'there is no "I" in TEAM' tshirt):
say pigs! your loving and carrying employer here just wondering how the eatin's goin' today? everybody full? when did you think you'd have that bucket of corn polished off? '

PIGS: hi favorite employer! we're so happy to be at work today! we'll do anything to make your happy!

ME: good job, boys! keep up the great work! remember, pedal faster! we have all kinds of benchmarks to meat.. i mean, MEET! tomorrow we'll have a brainstorming session about how to eat more feed!

PIGS: yeah! i love it here!

i walk away chuckling and making ticks on my clipboard, the dogs - my corporate 'yes men' behind me.

Henny to Clucky: do you think those poor fools have any idea?

Clucky: nope. but dang we'd better get in the and lay some eggs!

Henny: yep! i hate it when she says 'you're a-gonna feed me one way
or another so's you'd best just lay an egg"

another successful day on the farm!

:)

i think everyone has the sillies today!

FF - hang in there! make a plan, then work it.

so here is a bit of good news.... i got an early Christmas present!

this morning i fell - again - on the ice. and so immediately after our morning rounds The Big Man said he wanted to go and get more turkey feed quick. so we hopped in the ratty truck and off we went.

but instead of going to the 'feed' section he marched me back to the boot section.... and bought me the NICEST barn boots ever... they are the extra deluxe Muck Boots! good down to -40*, water proof, and ice proof - hopefully - with big treads to keep me upright!

i was shocked and stunned - i was completely bamboozled. and very very happy. so i've been motoring around outside without falling on my tail feathers... and the ice has met its match!

how fun is that?

and the best part is they are 'camo' - so i'll never get tired of making the joke "honey! i cant find my boots".... i just love that. it never gets old!

all this jocularity makes me want to go and have some eggnog ice cream.

:)
