Wow! That is SO nice! I love everything about your little cabin,..I especially love the white cabinet in the background. Does it have the flour bin in it?? I hope to find me one like that this summer to put in our little house. You guys have done a wonderful job on everything and I will really enjoy reading updates in your journal. :)

Thank You all for the nice compliments. Nice to see some fellow Kentuckians here as well. This has been a life long dream of ours and I am just so happy that we are getting to live it. Yes, the white shelf does have a flour bin with a sifter in it and it also has bread safe in the middle drawer and is in perfect condition with no rust. We lucked out on this deal as my neigbor is moving to Ohio and was selling everything and we got it at a great deal. As for our wood cook stove...well, it's another story...we bought it new and it set us back a pretty penny... but it's what we both wanted and have worked really hard saving to have so we got it. The best thing about this little cabin is that my sweet little Hubby built every bit of it with his own two hands...

Wow! Welcome. Love the pics - your cabin is gorgeous and cozy. Love the "wine" sign :D How do you like cooking on the wood stove? I have an antique one that me and a friend bought together. It is at his house right now, not being used, but I will be taking possession of it - can't wait to use it during the winter for heat and cooking.

Wow....brave woman living that closely with a teenager!

The cabin is beautiful, it reminds me of where my hubby and I spent our honeymoon but it would have been even better with that cookstove! I would love to do that someday but my babies are too young still.

You guys are a handsome couple, btw!

I would love to live off grid! So what are you going to do with the old house? Do you have any other animals?

Thank You! The wine sign was a Christmas gift from my Aunt since we make our own wine she thought this would go nicely with the cabin. She also got us a little box that has grapes on it that holds a quart mason jar perfectly..... good to hold the wine in....lol..

As for living with a teenager in the loft above our bed.....I have to say that I don't know how that will work out since he already has said that he needs his privacy.... Hubby is planning on building him a separate little room of his own this summer as well but it won't be attached to the cabin and I don't know if I can handle him actually staying in it all the time through the night and all... I know he's almost 13 but I am a worry wart and probably couldn't sleep so he'll probably stay in it till bedtime for us and then he'll have to sleep in his loft...lol... Hubby is also building himself a shop over the hill from our cabin this summer so maybe that's where my son's room can be as well..\
I love cooking on the woodstove... everything seems to taste so much better... dont' know if it's in my head because I love cooking on it or what but it just is... It's gonna take some getting used to when using the oven though...keeping the temperature regulated is a bit tough so far... I am not that experienced yet so it may not be that difficult... I'll keep you posted...
As for our other home .....we will be selling it in a couple of months as it is a mobile home... that will also give us the extra money to buy solar panels and all the other things that we need along the way. Yes, we do have lots of other animals as well... We have a 26 year old mule, a minature donkey, about 25 turkeys, a bunch of chickens, rabbits and peacocks.... oh, and can't forget about Mary Moo our milk cow... and I want to get a few goats soon as well... I want to make some soap with their milk. We used to have a great milk goat and we drank it for like a year and then we decided to get a cow and I just love her... We also have a calf that will be slaughtered in a month or so too...so lots of good beef there..... I plan on canning a lot of the beef as we just love canned beef better than cooking it fresh... so-oooooo delicious...

. We are going totally off grid with no electricity. I know this will be challenging at first but we are so excited to get started. We have been staying in it some throughout the winter but will officially be living there in a couple of months.
I guess in a couple of months we won't be hearing from you then?
