Hoof In Mouth
Believe it or not a clinical dietitian teamed up with my daughter's pulmonologist and recommended she be put on this restrictive diet. She died 5 months ago from severe pneumonia (her 14-15th time to get it), was resuscitated, spent over a month in the hospital and is still undergoing major lung recovery. She is still internally inflamed...lung and tonsils esp. She has probably been inflamed her whole life and they think it is because of her diet. Which I thought was pretty healthy to begin with, lotsa fruit, veggies, legumes, very lean meats, low fat and no fat dairy, soy products such as milk and garden burgers etc. and whole grains.Bubblingbrooks said:For BBHs daughter. its because of some very restrictive health issues they are dealing with.ohiogoatgirl said:personally i don't understand why you would want to eat that restrictivly unless you were doing a group "year in the life" kind of thing like "the edwardian farm"...
Switched her to a "Nourishing Traditions-type*" of diet about a year and a half ago(thanks to freemotion's class). Her grades shot through the roof almost right away.
Really, cutting out grains/gluten, legumes and maybe dairy is not that hard. Three days into this and we are feeling fantastic. Last night we actually went out to eat, I ordered a flat iron steak, steamed veggies with butter and a side salad with homemade blue cheese. She had a chicken ceasar salad with no croutons. (We haven't eliminated dairy yet, b/c her dietitian said not to do it all at once.)
ETA, in a nutshell: *good carbs, no bad carbs, full fat raw dairy, grass fed meats and eggs, tons of veggies raw, fermented and cooked, no soy or corn in any form, and some fruit.
